Hi,

I have noticed for a while that the forums read and unread icons are not always accurate - in the way that posts I haven't read are marked as read.

Hope that makes sense.

Yeah, that's been happening to me too ... for a long time.

If you've been to certain pages on the main part of the site, some faulty session-handling code that exists can contribute to that. We would need to know exactly what you were doing, step-by-step, in order to begin troubleshooting.

Sorry. Not mind-readers over here. Wink

Thanks Crimson,

As Jon said, it's been happening for a long time... so it will have happens from multiple sections of the board.

For example, we visit the main forum page ... get lots of blinky symbols showing unread stuff.

Then we click on one and read it.

If we go back to the main page (and it gets refreshed) ... ALL the blinky symbols are gone.

So if you have time to read one or two, you're fine, but if you leave and try to go back, you've no idea what's current.

(and on a side note ...)

I also have issues where there are NO blinky symbols where there should be when something's been added (new thread, new comment). I'm missing some posts and threads because there's nothing telling me that they're new.

Jon's post hits it on the head on what's happening.

Bob - I am using Safari on a Mac, and Safari on an iPhone 4s.

Funny enough, I'm using the same as Ashley, our specs match. (Mac and Safari on both)

Funny, I seem to have quite the opposit problem of what's mentioned here. When I log in, all posts are marked read(so nothing's blinking), but if somthing new gets posted while I'm on the forum, it starts to blink.

Oh and I'm using IE on windows 8

OK, so you're not going to the main part of the site itself at all? You're only on the forum?

Yes, I'm only talking about "unread" or "new" message blinkies on the forums.

No, what I mean is "are you at any time going to the main part of the site itself?"

Not for me. Usually I'm just hitting the forum ... although I do hit the Costume Admin section as a LCJ.
