I will be posting the visual guides to all 3 Trooper costumes of Hoth here.

First up is the "Trench Trooper"

There will be some clarification upcoming on the standards. We will be adding Luke's unique combination of Hoth hat, tan Hangar Trooper quilted vest and padded knee pants as an option to either the Trench or Hangar Trooper standard.

Required Items:

Accurate soft helmet in a white, beige or ecru color
White framed goggles with with yellow, lt green, light amber lenses
Jacket in white or beige/natural color with tan quilted top section
Backpack Vest in a beige or ecru color
Tan colored pants with quilted/padded knees
Accurate gray or tan colored gaiters
White web belt with buckle detail
Greeblies on right front vest
White/Light gray gloves with med gray cuff and com device

Formal Requirements - choose two:

(Unless local laws prohibit or strongly discourage carrying anything that looks like a firearm)
Rank badge on vest
Comm device/earpiece on hat
DH-17 blaster (either RFT version or modified Hoth version)
White holster
Hoth Rifle
Backpack/Hardpack - canvas covered boxes with black greeblies on a frame
Tan fabric pouch
Tan or black scarf

Save the photo below to your computer so that you can enlarge the areas of the costume that you might want a closer look at.

Mostly all of this costume is hand made.

Tutorials and information can be found here:

Links to items you can purchase do not represent an endorsement.

A few of the greeblie items can be found here:

There have been several discussions here at the Rebel Legion that can also be of help.

A discussion on hardpacks:

http://www.amazon.com/8565-Black-Bomber-Flaps-Medium/dp/B004B6HJEE/ref=sr_1_65?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1325144710&sr=1-65

would the above be acceptable as a base hat for the Hoth Tech? this way, only a back flap need be added and lightening up the black (maybe bleaching, then dying if necessary?)?

Something like this would be better...

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/used-usn-50s-era-deck-hat-dark-khaki.aspx?a=884880

I bought a deck hat similar to the one above.....took it apart and made a pattern and then sewed my Tech hat out of a dark gray bottomweight twill.

The Star Wars Archive just put up this pic with Hoth techs in the background. It looks like a new image:

Here are the Hoth Battlefield pictures. This album has some of the best reference pictures out there.

So the Hanger Trooper suit is not quilted at all? I just want to make sure. It does not mention it in the above list of requirments but I saw it in the standards thread. I am guessing its because it was based on older info and was not updated yet? I know the vest is quilted but not the grey suit itself right?

Shirt/Pants or Jumpsuit/Coverall in a white, gray, beige, or ecru color with quilted forearms

The only quilting is on the tan jacket.

The actual movie jumpsuit was gray....I got that from one of the actors who wore the costume.

It is basically the same jumpsuit as the AT-AT driver...
same jumpsuit as X-Wing Pilot only in gray instead of orange.
