Being VERY critical about the shoulder tucks...

First, they appear to be barely an inch in depth. A shallow depth tuck tends to make it flare up, if not positioned correctly on the shoulders. I tend to make mine 1.5"-2" deep.

Second, the stitch line that secured the tuck is WAY too excessive (in my opinion). I carry this stitch line 4.5-5" on either side of the shoulder seam.

But it is true that the presence of this stitch is inconsequential because it will be hidden Wink

As for the material? It looks okay in those pics, but it also looks a little "too perfect", sort of like the lines in the crinkles are REALLY uniform and evenly spaced. I would be curious if this fabric is a crinkle gauze or not?

My current one is like a crinkle gauze material. Has some cotton inside of it to give it padding. I hope everything turns out alright. The most Im worried about are the colors.

Yeah, color is a difficult thing to interpret and get "right". It would certainly be better if the OT turned out too light...cause you can always dye it.

Here's a thought...if it comes too light: tea dye it!

Yep, dye it with tea. Get a HUGE pot, lots of tea, boil the tea bags, then put your OT in the tea. I tea dyed one and left it in some hours. It certainly make it "darker" without making it dark. Basically, I would almost say you can't screw something up with tea dyeing.

Oh...and don't bother putting sugar in tea (even if you're in the South) Wink

And with everything that is dyed, using salt helps and, then using a fixer also helps "fix" the dye so it won't wash out. Pay a visit to www.dharmatrading.com for some pointers and tutorials on dyeing.

But...hopefully it won't be an issue Wink

First progress pictures. Soooo excited now. These came out great! Thanks to Master Rog for doing these for me. 1 step closer to being an official Obi Wan.

I will use my Anakin pouch until I get my tunics, belt and Obi pouch from Claudio.

Boots are in progress from JDOS

The Three that Rog did for me of course are the 3 on the right. They are high quality Air Brush... and clear coat. You can tell it has a few stages of paint. As Ive done some automotive painting with Kitt and the General Lee.

I have an event tomorrow.. will be wearing Master Rog's Obi Wan accurate belt boxes. Glad I got something in new before the event.
I will also have to wear my lighter brown back up belt until my new dark brown belt comes in. The current dark brown belt, one of the prongs came off on the last troop I did at the Hockey Game.. Im scared to wear it anymore... may come off

When I get more in.. I'll post them up.

Thanks all

While I know they will more than likely pass inspection, I strongly
recommend going for screen-accurate Covertec clip and food pellets...

Not only because this is a face character, but also because they are not
hard to find/make.

And in the end, it's all about the details Wink

I have screen accurate food capsules.. the covertec I have is the one that comes with the new Hasbro removable saber hilts.

I have a chrome, gold chrome, satin silver, and copper colored food capsules. Think I have 4 or 5 sets of 4... also have the darker brown capsules also.

Once I get the new belt in.. I'll lay all the stuff out to see if I have the correct order or not. Little confusing with looking at it and wearing orientation. I have the episode III diagram.

I'll post a pic up to see what everyone thinks.

My bad then. I thought they were those Costumebase or SW Robe food pellets... They had quite a strong groove at the bottom is why...

No your alright.. you may have seen some pictures of mine where I do have the costumebase ones on the belt. Ive been keeping the other ones to the side.

I do have another covertec on the way with the other belts Im having made. This time im not weathering them out. The current ones ... the belt fell apart in 2 yrs.

Confused

Just got word that everything is on its way.. should be in time for the March 16th event I have. Will get some pics for everyone to see. Definitly need the belts if nothing else. So hopefully it arrives in time. Has 3 weeks to arrive.. so I'm confident it will be here.

Stay Tuned...

Hopefully the colors came out alright.. if not.. I'll take your advice Rog and Tea dye the tunics.

K honest opinions here... to see if these materials will pass. From my eye...
The tunics look good.. correct colors... fabric matches the type of grain that Obi Wan had in episode III. The pants are probably about a shade or 2 off from the brown. Honest opinion to see if it will pass or not.. If not... I'll get some Khaki pants desert sand color and go with that.

The Tabbards are made for easier install. The other one.. I always had trouble slipping in the rear tabbards past the obi and belt. It has a belt like system attached to it to keep the rear tabbards in place which I really like.

I have now 2 belts from Claudio... and 2 covertecs now... looks screen accurate to me... All my pouches look screen accurate now ... thanks to Rog.

All is left is to get the boots from Daniel.

Again.. the most thing I was worried about was the outer tunic.. and it appears the correct shade of tan to my eyes. If you guys think that the pants still wont fly or close enough. I'll get me some dickies desert sand color. I'd like to get Master Rog's opinion on that to see if they will pass.
Claudio found the closest material he could find to obi wans for me. Its close to my eyes.. but on the darker side by a couple shades.

Here's the picks and please let me know what you guys think so I can get this Obi Wan passed for inspection.

Hard to get a good pic of the pants.. the light plays tricks on them.. so I took several with and without flash.

This one is without flash.. This is what the pants looks like to me by the eye.. but just a couple shades darker.. basicly in between the above photo and this one. Guess I need to get some natural light photos for you guys. Just got them.. and its already dark outside

Also the.. brown undertunic is little more chocolate brown than what it appears in this photo. Again.. need natural light to get a good photo.

I like how this one is constructed and holds into place.. a firm collar

Again, trying to get the best photos under white overhead light

So what does all the fellow OBI WANS, Masters and Jedi think on this?
