With the RFT winding down, I'm starting to get things together for my next project, Han Solo "A New Hope."

Photos and more info to come...

So, I've hit a little snag here. My 3 hole black leather belt came in the mail today. I was able to remove the middle prong but their is another concern. The belt holes have metal grommets. I did see a member remove the grommets from his belt but I don't want to chance ruining a belt that fits great and technically meets the standards to having a belt that doesn't work at all.

The costume standards do not say anything regarding the grommets on the 3-hole, 2-prong leather belt.

I dunno... There were a lot of little stipulations for my Leia that weren't in the CRL that they made me do. Might want to ask a judge.

It's impossible to definitively say without seeing a photo of it. But if you can see the belt holes have grommets, then it looks inaccurate. If you can't tell it has grommets (they are indistinguishable) then it won't look inaccurate.

Keep in mind that you aren't trying replicate A Han Solo ANH costume, you are trying to do THE Han Solo ANH costume. Let the movie costume be your guide and goal. There is very little margin for deviation from what was originally there with specific character costumes. The standards are not an exhaustive list of what details the costume does and doesn't have - that is ultimately defined by the movies. There are effectively an infinite number of details you can't add to a costume piece without rendering it inaccurate, and it would be futile to even try and list them.

WIP threads are so valuable for taking a costume from start to approval. I really look forward to seeing this come together. If you or anyone else wants to contact me direct they can, the Fringe section resources and members are also there if you want to use them.

Cheers.
Greg

Yeah see I was afraid of that. I can try and remove the grommets but in the mean time I will look for another belt.

The only problem is, I am finding it difficult trying to get one in my size

As promised some WiP photos of the ANH Han Solo. Still missing the gun belt and I haven't painted the tools yet. And yes I know the beard has to go lol.

You can also see one of my kittens photo-bombing. Smile
