So I've been reading all the threads here trying to get as much information as possible before attempting to make my ROTJ outfit. I'm actually going to attempt to learn how to sew! We'll see how that turns out...

Anyway, I have read in a few threads that people have used a civil war pattern and modified it for making Luke's shirt. Does anyone know exactly which pattern this is so I can start looking for it?

I do not, but maybe some others will chime in.

I know others have used a "chef's" smock as a pattern from which to generate the Luke ROTJ costume. The outer tunic (or what ever it's called) is...as I understand it...basically a shirt with a Mandarin-type collar and a fold over front flap that closes the "shirt".

The civil war pattern is very difficult. If you are new to sewing that pattern will make you want to throw it out the window. It's a lined jacket with very unusual sleeves. I don't recommend it. The chefs pattern can work with minor adjustments. You will have to taper it down because its meant to be worn untucked and full but the collar and sleeves are pretty good. I'll have to look back and see if the ROTJ shirt has a cuff or not. I made the Jedi Luke and ceremonial Luke shirts at the same time and can't remember which one had the cuff.

You'll have to make a pattern for the bib.

I've used the Chef's coat pattern for my ceremonial Luke, and it definitely needs some tailoring down to make it form-fitting.
