The belt is 4" wide. The center straps are 1" wide, so there's 1.5" on each side of the strap. Using a ruler, I measured 1.5" on each side and made an indention with a 1/2" chisel. I then, took my drill and a small drill bit and drilled out each end of the chisel mark like this:
0---0

Then, I put a block of wood under the belt and hammered the chisel all the way through between the drill marks. this made a perfect 1/2" straight opening for the belt loops to go through.

Next, I pulled the strap through and placed the boxes back, which are using industrial Velcro to adhere.

Here's a couple of photos of the belt now. The inside of each belt part behind the buckle also has Velcro, that attaches to the front straps of the belt (not shown here).

I still need to add the big loops next to the buckles and then I need to do the strapping on the shoulder bits as well.[/img]

Thank you very much!

I added the loops to the shoulder straps last night. Had to order some more 1" leather straps.

By the way, this is where I am getting my pre-cut and creased leather from: http://myworld.ebay.com/valuebeltsplus/&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2754

Value Belts are great. They will cut and crease any length of leather for you. I just got some 4", 1" and 1.5" straps (didn't end up using the 1.5" - will give to wife for her female wookiee) and they were all around 54"-57" long. They also sent me 40 1/2" belt loops by request at a great cost!

Thanks man!

Here's the progress on the belt (on a very skinny 6' mannequin):

TOES ARRIVED! Thanks Ryan!
https://www.facebook.com/Chewiechanga

I'm trying out some heavy duty foam from Hope Depot.

I placed the feet on the bottom of the stilts and measured. Here they are 24" long, so I took them back off and have shortened them since. I'll post progress pics later.

Tarfful is waiting patiently in the corner for his legs, pants and feet to be finished.

I have not worked on my feet yet, thats next.

did you permanently attach your shoes to your stilts?

your feet build here is pretty much what I was thinking of doing also...

but I wanted to add something from the shoes up towards the shins..
not sure what yet... not sure how, cause I have to be able to strap the shoe in each time. even if I permanently attach the shoe, still going to have to make some adjustments to the straps each time... IDK

yours is looking awesome!

Thanks guys!
I bought some $15 or $16 foam from Walmart. I wrapped one layer of that around the legs of the stilts and followed the popular, "wrap with black duct tape" technique.

The foam can be removed at any time to do repairs. I am also thinking of making the hair on the legs attach with snaps at the top, so it can also be removed if necessary,

When I attach the feet, I do want them to be attached semi-permanently, so they stay in place, but can be removed if absolutely necessary. I'll post progress pics as I go along.

Over the last couple of days, I have added latex around the Styrofoam and I have painted the feet brown.

Added some hair to one of the stilt leg bottoms to cover the feet a bit.

My foot compared to Tarfful's:

Thank you very much! Still got quite a bit to do. The hardest part of this whole thing has really been, getting my wife to take the time to sew the pants... ha ha
