Hi, I'm Christine, and I am new to the forums. I talked to someone already in the Legion, and he told me this is where I post if I want to make a Leia costume. I don't really know how the process works with getting materials, but I want to make her basic white dress costume. I heard that I need someone to help me make the costume, as I am not the greatest sewer in the world. I am on Echo Base in Central Pennsylvania. If someone could help me out I would really appreciate it, thank you! Very Happy

Welcome, Christine!

Your best place to start is indeed here! We have tutorials, guides and lots of advice. Since this will be your first project, have you introduced yourself at your Base board? You'll likely find a great seamstress there who will be willing to work through this project with you.

Fabric for this dress, the polyester Jet Set in white from Joann's is best. It's around $4 a yard tool which is great since the dress is two layers. Don't forget the extra yard for the hood too!

Let us know of any way we can help. That's what we're here for!

Edit to add the link to our tutorial thread on this costume: http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21883

hi! this is actually a great starter costume for someone to learn on. It's relatively simple and I really encourage you to try to do the dress yourself while following one of the many tutorials that have been posted here, like that one linked above. ^_^

If you have not already seen these, please read through these tutorials: http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21883

I know my page gives examples of acceptable fabrics and where to get them (Jet Set at JoAnns, or Hancocks sometimes has it labeled as an interlock knit - those are acceptable for sure).

After a good read through, anything that is not clear just ask us questions here or ask the people in your base who have made the costume Smile
