I know that some of you guys are excellent at research and like doing it...

here is your challenge...

A Bespin Luke blaster for Luke Zintak...

Unfortunately...
this blaster is not an available Hasbro prop....lol..
nor do I think that there are many resources out there...

so....

here is a chance to help Luke with his quest...

Tell us what you know about this blaster...
and what is out there...

According to "Parts of Star Wars"
they are talking about the Han Solo weapon here:

This prop was made from a replica German "Broomhandle" Mauser pistol manufactured by the Model Gun Corporation of Japan. This blaster is nearly identical to the DL-44 carried by Luke Skywalker.

Though it's long been believed that Han and Luke had very different muzzles, they were actually nearly identical- both had 3 knurled bands around the collar. The reason Han's seems different is because it was made much rougher and the knurled bands are misaligned and run close together in spots.

The scope mounted on the side is either a M19 or M32 brass azimuth telescope used by the military in many applications including tank periscopes. These were made in 1942 by Minneapolis Honeywell Regulator Co. (M.H.R.). We believe the M19 is the more likely scope used and it was attached with the original hex head bolts.

Since a Master Replica Luke blaster is heavy and ridiculously expensive..

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Master-Replicas-Luke-Skywalker-Blaster-LE-ESB-Empire-Star-Wars-Prop-Replica-/271103909888?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f1f0d6000

it would probably be best to go the route of modding a replica..

so...
would something like this work:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-Larami-M712-Z-Matic-Cap-Gun-Broom-handle-Mauser-New-/290816971827?pt=Vintage_Antique_Toys_US&hash=item43b60ad433

or this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Steampunk-Gun-pistol-Star-Wars-HAN-SOLO-AIRSOFT-SPRING-BB-mauser-broomhandle-c96-/320986634448?pt=US_Reenactment_Theater&hash=item4abc4b58d0

or this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-WW2-MAUSER-BROOMHANDLE-C96-GERMAN-AIRSOFT-SPRING-HAND-GUN-PISTOL-w-6mm-BB-/330831818621?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d071cef7d

Then...
we need to find things like the scope and flash suppressor..

So...

Help us Obi-Wan Kenobi

you are our only hope

Very Happy

yeah honestly I have no idea where to start with this. Don't really have the $ to go for the master replicas blaster.

Thanks for your help guys. I really appreciate it.

Well airsoft guns are very popular bases for Han & Luke blasters. I prefer the metal one myself since it can take more abuse.

Another option is I believe both Darth Hair & Mark Bradley make good resin kits for these blasters as well.

The metal ones will take more abuse....for sure...
but attaching parts to the airsoft would probably be easier...

Luke has already looked into the Darthhair one...

either way...
if you mod a metal one..
or mod an airsoft/plastic one...
you need things like the flash suppressor and scope...

we need to find those pieces....

Hiya,

There have naturally been several discussions about DL44 options and sources over in the Fringe section. Ultimately personal taste often determines what route people take (metal, plastic, airsoft, resin, denix, MGC, etc.) so there are many opinions there. But it is all good useful information regardless of what costume you want the blaster for and there are some regulars there who know a huge amount about the DL44s used in the movies.

Personally I always recommend doopdoos resin kits for trooping. They tick all the boxes - great detail, well made, strong, light, unbelievably good value, easy to assemble, easy to mod, etc. They are not the unfinished rough garage kits of old. I bought my first doopydoos DL44 thinking it would be a stop gap then backup while I built a metal blaster but have been so happy with it I've never used anything other than that. I now have several of the ANH, ESB and ROTJ doopydoos blasters and they are all excellent.

I think Luke's ESB DL44 is almost the same as Han's ESB DL44 (there are a few small greeblie differences). If I was doing an ESB Luke I'd definitely start with a doopydoos Han ESB DL44 and make the necessary mods to turn it into Luke's version.

One thing to be aware of is that while I've always received my orders in good time and good order from doopydoos (I've placed several orders over the past couple of years), I'm aware they get hundreds of email and phone queries a week so getting a reply to an email is a bit of a lottery.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Greg

Yup! I plan on getting the ANH one for trooping in the Han.

The ebay auction of the master replica isn't a bad price. That is the going rate I have found in doing research for my Han Solo ANH blaster. But if it drops...bad news.

The Bespin Luke blaster looks almost identical to the Han Solo ESB blaster. At least to my eyes. Also check UniqueCanes.

That is the link to the Luke ESB blaster. Will have to e-mail him first to check availability.

lol..

I may actually order one of these kits too...
I have always loved the Han/Luke blaster...
and always wanted one..

Truth be told..
I bid on this piece and won the auction for a penny...

so.....
I may try to mod the Airsoft using the scope and flash suppressor from the Doopydoo kit.....
just for giggles..

Just to be clear when I said metal, I meant metal airsoft, not like a denix.

ah..

I already have a Denix Broomhandle replica at home...
and those are what we call "pot metal"..

and pot metal is not ideal for drilling and what not..

Yeah. Your denix is also what I would call REALLY FRAKKING HEAVY. The metal airsofts really aren't heavy. Most of the bulk on mine is from the aluminum flash hider.

I'm looking on ebay and found another mauser for $.01. It's the same one Phyllis grabbed. I'm probably going to go that route unless i can find a metal one.

i can only assume the Doopy DL-44 is good. My E-11 is a doopy full resin kit from them. with a little tweaking with the Dremel, and some tid bits of my own, it came out fantastic, as screen accurate as you can with a kit...

from this...

to this...

And I too bought that exact same mauser you did Phyllis...did you also find it odd to pay 93 cents tax on a 1 cent bid Mr. Green

Im planning on doing doopy mod kit as well...so i can put away my toy han ESB DL44 that has the scope and everything molded into 1 piece...not bad looking in the holster...but not the greatest for show
