Hi,

anyone out here who can provide me with some good and accurate measurements for size/shape/angles of the metal belt parts?

Mainly for ANH, but if there are any differences between this and later versions (not talking about the interchanging buckles, but something like: i think the front hooks on ROTJ are completly wide as the belt itself, and on ANH the hook was smaller than the fastening part?), any help would be great. Very Happy

Hi Michael,

I'm pretty sure I have some scans of the templates I used for my buckles on my computer at work. I'll check when I go back in on Tuesday, and post them up here for you.

You're right because I'm not sure they're "accurate," but I think they look pretty darn close.

Check back and hopefully I'll have some info posted up here for you soon.

Hi Brian,

i know that "real accurate" is next to impossible without measuring the real parts. Wink

It´s just that some guesses are closer than others, and i prefer "closer" over "good enough". Hard to explain. Mr. Green

Many thanks for sharing your stuff. Very Happy

Hi Michael,

OK, as promised, here are the templates:

Solo Buckle Templates by bri457, on Flickr[/img]

Hopefully you can just grab this image, print it out, and it will be the correct size. The main thing is that the orange lines on the buckle be the same width as the belt. For me, that would be 2 1/4". That makes the top of the ANH front buckle 2 3/4", the bottom 2 3/8", and the short angled sides 1 3/8" The overall height of the buckle is 3 3/8"

For the rear buckle, the angled sides are 2", and the overall height is 3 1/8". Again, the orange sides are 2 1/4"

The only other difference between the buckles is when the buckle pictured on top is used in the front of the belt (ANH, ROTJ) the bracket the belt fastens to on the back of the buckle is parallel to the orange sides. When it is used in the rear (ESB, ROTJ) the brackets are perpendicular to the top. Hopefully that makes sense. If not, let me know and I'll post some pics of the rear sides of the buckles.

You have been a huge help and inspiration with the blasters, and your craftsmanship is exceptional. If you decide to build some buckles, be sure to post some WIP photos.

Best Regards,

Brian
