Getting my X-Wing pilot costume together, just placed my order for all the strapping but I couldn't find 2" olive drab elastic anywhere for my leg flare holder.

Strapworks doesn't carry 2" width and all my google searches come up empty, finding suspenders and such.

Any suggestions?

I did mine out of OD cotton fabric sewn up, you will need some form of a clip or lip or something to keep the leg flare holder up most likely.

I wouldn't recommend using elastic. You'll need to make it out of a stiffer fabric.

Right. I did the same with my old X-Wing pilot. I used something similar to this clip and attached it to the inner back portion of the flare holder, so the clip would slide into the back of my boot.

Thanks for the help!

I'll get some heavier cotton or canvas and use that instead. I have some clips from Tandy I was going to use to attach it to the top of my boots.

tahts what I did. I tried looking for OD elastic as well, in vain. Finally found 4" wide black elastic at Joanns, doubled that up for strenght, and made black leg fare holders. I used OD cloth for OD versions. The Elastic was a bit easier to work with overall, but will break down over time.

best way to find the right fabric is go to an Army/Navy surplus store, buy an OD duffle bag and cut it apart! Cheap and easy and the perfect material match!
