Can anyone advise me what material I should use to recreate this costume? I am in Florida so I'd like to stay away from wools or really heavy fabric. Any suggestions would be great!

I have the very same question.

Plus...

Can the fleet trooper blue shirt be used for this costume??

Is this outfit restricted for Crix Madine or can one make it for a female officer??

Can the boots and gloves of an x-wing pilot outfit be used for this costume??

where can I get the insignias and belt??

thanks in advance.

I also had this question some time ago, and the suggestions I got back said: Yes, it should be possible to use a RFT shirt for the Madine officer costume!
But some weeks ago I bought an extra blue shirt for the officer costume, because I don´t want to fix the colar insignia to the RFT shirt...

The same idea is to use boots and belt from the RFT for cost reducing reasons...

My commplate and ranks are from MonCal, and I´m pretty satisfied with them!

And why shouldn´t there be a female officer?

For the material best to use I can´t give any hints exept that for "real world" uniforms they often use a fabric called "Gabardine" - at least here in Europe.
My fabric seems to be a cotton blend as I was only happy to find a suitable colour!

Thanks!!! Very Happy

I was going to use my black leather boot (used with x-wing costume) for this RFT outfit, so then it's ok with the boots, but what about the gloves? If I can't use the x-wing gloves, where do I get the proper gloves?

My RFT outfit is waiting for some resizing (it's a little too big) and a helmet to be complete. oh! and the belt with the blaster. But I'll discuss that on the propper thread.

I made two of these jackets
...
one in a wool crepe fabric

and one in a cotton/poly blend fabric called "Trigger"..
which is no longer available...

Really, this costume does require a fabric that is not too thin..
otherwise it will not keep its shape very well....and will look sloppy..
and...

well..

"cheap"...

Color needs to be also considered...not too light..not too dark..
the "Trigger" fabric I used...the color was called "khaki"
but..
I am sure that "khaki" color varies from mill to mill and
from company to company...
even different runs of the same fabric can have color variations..

so..
best to buy fabric from the same bolt to cover both the jacket and pants.

some additional assistance as I am usually the Judge on this costume:

The costume standard for Madine:

Required Items:

Black Boots

Tan slacks

Light blue long sleeved collared shirt (a US Air Force dress shirt is perfect)

Tan overtunic with pocketed sleeves

Black or dark brown gauntlets

Brown belt with octagonal belt buckle

The Standard for other Endor Officers...that can include women:

Required Items:

Black Boots

Tan slacks

Light blue long sleeved collared shirt (a US Air Force dress shirt is perfect)

Tan overtunic with pocketed sleeves

Brown belt with octagonal belt buckle

Required for Formal:

Rank badge and collar insignia

Black or dark brown gauntlets

The shirt CAN be an RFT shirt...but the bibb is not necessary for the Endor Officer/Madine costume as the jacket's rounded collar comes up to just about where a RFT bibb comes.

Boots should be around 15" tall..
RFT boots should be a max of 13" tall....so...RFT boots would not work.

X-Wing boots would be good...as X-Wing boots are taller than RFT boots.

RFT belt is acceptable IF you have an octagonal buckle rather than just a rectangular...they are pretty much the same.

X-Wing gauntlet style gloves are acceptable.

Collar pips can be found here (scroll down):

http://www.shadowdalecreations.com/rebelforces.htm

I do make the Rank Badge...they are the same as one of the Endor Commando badges...

hope that helps....

I use my X-wing boots and xwing gloves

my blue shirt was just a Blue "work" type shirt, but I dont see why a RFT one would not work.. you wont see the bib

for the belt, as long as your RFT one is Brown belt with octagonal belt buckle

dont forget there is a ammo pouch on his belt
I never seen it, till another "Madine" pointed it out

you can kinda of see mine here.

my staff is made out of top half of a pool cue.. with a left over leg flare(x-wing) on top

I got the collar pins at that link Schph Gochi posted
and my rank badge I got from Schph Gochi

and...
for the record...
the fabric I used to make the jacket that Crix is wearing above is
tan wool crepe...

I´ve got a question for a costume judge....

The SW Character Encyclopedia shows a General Madine pic where the slacks seem to have a kind of knee padding, sewn from the inside, but clearly visible.

Would these knee pads be a problem for registration?

@ Crix: What kind of pouch do you use? It looks like a magazine pouch, but I can´t see any stiches on the front (for dividing the 3(?) magazines, as there seem to be 3 opening lids on the top)?
BTW, you look great as General Madine!

Do you by any chance have a scan of that photo?

Or...
which character encyclopedia it is in...

DK?
or the
Essential Guide to Characters?

I am not saying mine is accurate... its hard to tell from the pics.. I just kinda guessed

Sorry, no chance to scan the pic.
But it´s the DK book...
(the pic show Madine holding some "mission documents")

The DK book seems to show several "strange variations" of some costumes, e.g. the A-wing pilot.

Crix, thanks for this excellent pic of your pouch, this makes it much easier to look for something similar!
And yes, the deleted scene doesn´t show any knee padding!
But brown boots...... Sad
...anyway I will use black ones!!!!

Sorry Pylar for stealing your thread ..... Mad

but noting visiable to the eye. so I say its a non issues IMO

it does look like his boots are black here Very Happy
