lol...
I also had thought about Wookiees....

they are probably one of the ultimate Rebel costumes ....
all you need do is see Bob stroll in anywhere in that costume...
and you can literally see a mob form...

It is awesome and I never tire of seeing it...

from what I read... sounds like you could do it for under $1000...
and if you spread it out... its a long build.. so little here.. little there..
if I can get 1 or 2 people to do it with me..
I am afraid I wouldnt finish it.. I have a habit of starting something, then letting it sit. I need someone to help push me along Embarassed

i've been going through the info the last couple days... very overwhelming, lots of info. but thats a good thing.. plus we have one of the best chewys in the legion, right here in our base. I sure he would answer any question we might have...

most of you have seen this already...
but for those who havnt.. Smile
this is me at maybe 10 years old... a long time ago (30 years) in a subdivision far far away....
diffidently a childhood dream to do the real thing..

Jon Weger was also building a Chewie. I believe he plans on having it done by next Bartlett? He had a build thread going on FB too that showed where he got the hair and everything. I'd love to see you guys do this!

been reading the threads all day.. all of it looks pretty doable... cept the mask.. that looks pretty scary to build..
why out of my comfort zone... Embarassed

to make it fit right, you will have to do a life cast..
Bob has a great tutorial here
http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18217

hard skull and latex mask...
http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29695

the more I go through all the "how to" and builds... the more I want to give this a try Shocked

IDK.. back to the research

A bunch of us down in Corellia Base/Midsouth Garrison are building a squad of Wookiee warriors. Over the next few months we are arranging several prop parties where we are doing everyone's life casts.

One of the guys is really good at leather work and will be doing the ammo halters/bandoliers. I'll be sculpting the armor and belt buckles. Another guy owns a machine shop and is doing the masters for the ROTS ammo boxes (I'll be doing the molding and casting of those parts as well) and another guy did masters for the dreadlock rings and is sculpting up some ROTS style feet.

We could team up and help each other out with parts.

Pretty much everyone is doing their own mask. Not as hard as you might think. In reality it's not all that different from sewing; it's a skill to learn and there are loads of resources available to help. I'm working on a video tutorial series explaining every major step of the suit including the mask build. Those will start appearing early next year.

Definitely read up on all the resources. Here are some that I have put together over the years. In the next few months these will become more organized:
First is my Chewbacca Costuming Resources Page which is a kind of FAQ on Wookiee builds. Be aware that it hasn't been updated in four years, and we've learned a lot since then. I've been putting together a new and improved guide:
Chewbacca Costuming Guide this one has far more up to date information and is better organized, but still very incomplete.

Also be sure to check out the Fringe Tutorials forum as well.

For reference images, I have an extensive library consisting of scans from numerous books, screen shots from the blu-rays, various behind the scenes videos, several exhibits, and so on.

The Mighty Chewbacca

The Revenge of the Sith Wookiee Warriors

  2. Grakchawa
  3. Guanta
  4. Lachichuk
  5. Merumeru
  6. Salporin
  7. Tarfful
  8. Wookiee Weapons
The Star Wars Holiday Special Wookiees
  1. Attichitcuk aka "Itchy" (Chewie's dad)
  2. Lumpawarrump aka "Lumpy" (Chewie's son)
  3. Mallatobuck aka "Malla" (Chewie's wife)
Other Wookiees
  1. Senator Yarua
  2. Snoova/Chewie in Snoova Disguise
Complete Wookiee Reference Library

I have also put together a list of all Wookiees in the Star Wars canon, or at least on Wookieepedia (63 so far).
Big list o' Wookiees

I've also uploaded the pattern for my Wookiee suit: Wookiee Body Suit Patterns

OH WOW Matt!
thank you for the links. I've been reading alot these last few days on a chewy build .. there is some great stuff in there.

So far I am the only one that has expressed interest in a wookiee build, but I just brought it up the other day.. some might not of seen it yet..
the more I read, the more I want to do it.
I am in talks with SoloYT1300 to help me with a lifecast.. from there I will attempt the mask..

as far as teaming up, I would love too! I am going to try and see I can get other members interested..
but with me, I cant thing of anything that I could possible contribute to.. Embarassed
my skills are for the most part beginner level
molds, sculpting, casting.. never done before.. this will be my first time

leather work.... very limited... I did make my wifes RFT belt.. but not much to that.. punched some holes. added a snap and dye..

sewing... again beginner... I've messed around a bit, but I cant really say i know what I am doing.... I do plan on making the mess suit.. not real sure how.. but gunna try..

I really dont know how I could help you guys Crying or Very sad

I'm willing to help you build it, but I don't think that's a costume I'd build for myself.
