Plus then you have an episode of Clone Wars, where Anakin wears the Episode 2 pilot costume with the Episode 1 helmet... *sigh*

So, does anyone actually manufacture kits for the Episode 2 helmet?

Yeah, haven't written the bloody standards on that yet, esp. since it's not just Anakin, but Typho too. There's some other minor animated differences as well. =(
And Alex, unfortunately no. No one produces the EP2 Naboo bucket, and the only EP1s are old Don Post ones (that only fit tiny heads ... sorry Rach. ) _________________ Jon Paulson • Cmdr. Tag "HazardThree" Greenly

I'm thinking about taking a crack at making these. I have a Don Post helmet here for reference. I'd also like to get my hands on a set of the hard hat ear muffs that were used, so I can properly scale things up to size.

I'd be interested if you did, David. I like the Episode 2 costume, but I think the helmet is what makes it what it is.
I'd probably need a larger size than the Don Post, though (as would most, I reckon.)

My head won't even go into the Don Post one, so if/when I make them, they will definitely be large enough to be wearable by most people.

I guess I must have a small head (fewer brains, I guess) because mine feels "roomy"..
well...
that is once you get past the faux ear muffs..
so
I just grab the helmet by the muffs...yank out a bit to get past my ears...
then it fits fine.. _________________

Holy Sith, I was right?! Nice. Well, why not use a covertech clip for your blaster. If they go for one weapon...
I hate it when they mix up the costumes in CW. It's not nice to do that to costumers. _________________ DXO of Royalty & Senatorial detachment

Coat v2.0!!
I got an amazing deal on a poly/wool blend, and it's amazing. It looks SO much better than my first coat, and holds shape so much better as well.
All that I have left is to press it and sew on the cuffs!
(It's actually sitting over my old coat. You can see the color difference!)

Just an FYI:
A few of the 3M earcaps showed up on Amazon. (for an ok price)
http://www.amazon.com/Mounted-Safety-Muffs-MMM1450-Category/dp/B00065UJRS/ref=sr_1_1
I just bought two sets and will begin working on helmet and ear cap molds to make full size Naboo pilot helmets.
Now I'm trying to figure out what can be used for the ribbed/twisted rope looking detail that is attached over all the edges and such. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't know if it would work, but could you use the decorative rope you can find at fabric stores, glue that around the helmet, and then put resin over the rope? _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

Oh I seriously need to follow this thread!
Been Looking for the N-1 helmet in hope of maybe make the one Padmé wears, so would be awesome if you DroidWelder could manage making the helmet (Note; I'm not implying with the face mask, just the helmet ) _________________

HazardThree wrote: | Alex, easy enough to get confused thanks to product labeling. In actuality, they're two different costumes with only a minor helmet similarity. They switched up the Naboo pilot costumes & helmets in between EP1 & EP2.
In Episode 1 they've the "Orange Coat" N-1 pilots of Bravo Squadron
In Episode 2 they'd switched to a more military N-1 "Closed Helmet" pilots as sported by Amidala and Typho.
Hope that helps! |
Looking at these pictures, I have a question about Naboo Pilot Attack of the clones... is the vest gray or green? The exhibition photos show green but the Amidala standard says "gray/with hint of teal"
I would go for the green, but I need to be sure if it's going to be approvable.
I've been asked about this and really want to give an informed answer. _________________ Base Detachment Leader /Former BCO / Former Legion Costume Judge |
