Here we go peeps.
1) I have my stilts and need a ton of practice. Here's my first attempt at walking in them: http://www.rivetheadonline.com/Tarfful/BuildThread/1st_time_on_stilts.MOV

2) I purchased a set of East Bay compression gear ($30) and some foam (foam bed sheet stuff) from Walmart (about $16 for a big roll). I made muscles out of the foam and cut up some old work shirts from a law firm that let me go earlier this year to cover the foam. Took about two weeks for me to sew the pads on in my spare time:

3) I found it easier to start sewing the pads on my legs while wearing them, to keep the compression gear at the right size:

4) My wife made the mesh shirt in minutes and after 2-3 try-ons, we had the size right:

5) I started latch hooking the shirt this weekend. So glad that college and NFL football are both on here in the States. Gave me something to watch while I was grabbing at bits of hair and tying them on... Well, that and Doctor Who, That Metal Show and top gear re-runs:

I am commissioning Ryan for the mask and Jason for the ammo and armor. I found a leather worker on eBay who is sending me 54" length strips of leather in 4", 1.5" and 1" with 40 belt keepers (loops) in a nice dark chocolate brown with creased edges (the 1/4" lines).

I bought a huge sheet of industrial foam from Home Depot that I will sculpt the feet out of and the toes I am going to purchase from Ryan as well.

That's it for today. Will post developments as they are worth posting. Smile[/img]

Cheers Nikkos! I managed to only stab myself a few times!
It wasn't so bad. I'm not really a bleeder...
- That being said, I gave myself some wicked wounds when I made my Stormtrooper and Death Trooper. Smile

Still hooking! (I am taking a photo per day and will animate it when the latch hooking is complete)

Leather arrived yesterday! I've got 54" strips of 4", 1.5" and 1" leather, all chocolate brown and I also have 40 belt loops that match to go around the smaller strips.

Build is looking good. Be sure to blend some darker hair with the lighter patches of hair. It is more realistic. Study the still screen caps of Tarful and see how his blending is done. This is really important. Blending the transition from the very blondish hair to the dark should transition gradually. Mix some dark and light and even some grey and black adds to the realism.....good luck...

It might even do you some good to hackle the two colors together when hooking in areas where both colors meet... to go with a better blending of the two colors.
