Well... I finished this dress and it was approved in August. I started it in 2008 but put aside because of lack of inspiration and loss of interest in Star Wars. But everything changed the last spring! I wiped the dust from my old project and... totally remade it! The only thing that was untouched was my underskirt. This was originally an upper skirt by the way. Laughing
I spent spring and summer working on it and by the end I literally hated it! Especially the hair-style on which I spend enormous time of thinking and experimenting.
The previous weekend I was wearing my packing gown for the first time at EveryCon. There were a lot of photographers, so I managed to get some nice pictures!

Ah, thanks a lot, ladies! Your appreciation makes me feel very very happy! In the end it was worth all the pain I had making it. Smile

Great job. I love the hair. Hair is usually the thing that ruins a great costume, but yours is well done.

How did you go about doing the hair? I'm super close to finishing the dress and I want to get it done for CE if possible. I'm just kind of stumped. I've used pliable aluminum for other pieces like braided buns, but I'm not sure if that's going to work for this.

Any tips would be great! Love this outfit, and you did an AMAZING job!

Thanks! Smile I'll try to show you the way I made my buns.
First of all, about the base: I was lucky to find several round plastic breast cups. At least I think that's what they originally were. I found them in my grandmother’s closet. But I guess the wire frame will work just the same. I interlaced the cups with wire to get the right shape anyway.
But the frame was thin, so I put a cotton wool inside the forms and covered it with gauze. After that I sewed the hair to the edge of the forms. I overlapped a lot of layers to cover the whole thing. And then I covered pieces with hair net. And that's it.
Here are the pictures of the process. Sorry for the quality, I wasn’t planning on showing them when I made them.
