With all due respect to Tom, charter states a member has to have completed one year of service in order to run for BCO.

I would nominate Terry/Navajo Bro for CO of Echo Base. He's done a fine job as BXO and knows the ropes.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, but unfortunately I'd have to decline this time around.

I had a ton going on this past year with my third child and a lot of complications surrounding her both pre and post birth. She's doing fine now but man it took a lot of time away from me and I'm going to need at least the next year to get stuff back on track (nothing bad, just a lot of house renovations to make room and juggle the other kids around), as this was stuff I couldn't do until now.

I talked to Tim when he asked me to be his XO this year and was a little leary if I'd have the time but I really do love the RL and felt I could continue to help out here and was happy to accept, but honestly with all that piled on with baby I'm not sure I was as effective as I'd like to have been.

I'm not going anywhere, but I do have to step back from Command Positions a little to free me up. Again though I thank you guys Very Happy

I thought both Mark Jones and Wally Peters had been nominated but I don't see anything here? When Tim said he was not seeking another term I immediately thought of both of you guys. Wink

** Edit - I saw where this was in another thread and that Wally declined. I'd like to nominate Mark Jones if he'd be interested, I know he also has a lot of other duties but I'm sure he could handle the job

I know, Tom was a stretch. He is a great Rebel. I realize he was short on time as a member when I looked on my paperwork.

As i stated in the Future Command of Echo thread:

Well it is now August and Dragon Con is right around the corner and then it is election time. While on the subject of the election. I am strongly considering of not running for re-election. Work and family have taken a lot of the trooper out of me this season. I believe it is customary to serve two years as Base Commanding Officer; unless a situation arises where I would have to continue my tenure - I would. But in the general way of things I feel I have done my time.

The council will not act on this till after the nomination process is over... giving last minute people a chance to weigh in.

If and when the time goes by the proper procedure is for the COG to contact the BCO... then the BXO to verify they are indeed not interested in running. If it is stated that neither members are interested... then it goes to council...

Per the charter as it is right now, we can assign a member to take on the position or dissolve the base outright into the surrounding bases or the Outer Rim. If we were to go with members who had less than a year experience... it would require a majority vote by council to "overlook/ waive" that requirement for the position.

With that out of the way... let me offer some advice if you will allow me.

If and when no member steps up... the currant BCO has offered to take the positions one more time. My recommendation is to switch our your BXO once you have a member with a full year in who is interested in the job. Train them... then step down as BCO. It’s a good way to train a new BCO under the circumstances.

Just my 2 cents...
