Event: Al's Run and Walk for Children's Hospital
We are asked to do a meet and greet during the Champion's Breakfast from 8-9 am. This breakfast is for families with children born into the pediatric ICU at Children's Hospital. Following the breakfast we are invited to meet and greet at the Pre-Walk Area until the start of the walk at 10:30am. There are 15,000 people expected.

When: Sept. 15, 2012 Ready to troop at 8am
Where: Marquette Union between 12th and 16th in Milwaukee
What: Meet and Greet
Changing Area: Yes there will be a secure room in the Union

I am in touch with our contact at the Children's hospital.
We will have more details and a map in the next two weeks.
Suffice it to say that I would like to see a good turnout of troopers at this event.
This is our foot in the door to the Children's hospital. Nothing would make me happier than to
be in their good graces.
08/27- Update:
The Al’s Champion Breakfast is held in a large tent in front of the MU Union on 15th & Wis. Ave.
Our patients who have spent time in our Pediatric Intensive Care Units are invited to a pre-Run breakfast.
The breakfast is very informal. A variety of community groups donate various breakfast items for these families.
We often have a few of our special “entertainers”, meet/greet the children at this breakfast.
Another area we would like to have a few of your members located is between 15th & 12th St. on Wisconsin Ave.
Basically, your group will be greeting and interacting with families before the start of the run.
The union will provide a room for “entertainers” to change, etc; I do not have any more information on exact room location today.

Update: 09/01/12
NO BLASTERS OR VIOLENT TOYS at this troop gang, sorry...
Children’s Hospital of WI has a policy regarding guns and violent toys so, no blasters for the troops.
There is a MU parking structure on 16th St. (west side of street) between Wisconsin Ave & Wells St.
The MU union is located on Wisconsin Ave between 16th & 15th. There will be a large white tent set up for the Children’s Champ’s breakfast.
Here is a link to a Map of the grounds. http://www.marquette.edu/campus-map/marquette-map.pdf
I would guess that the parking structures labeled for visitor parking are where we should park.
Getting there early enough to find our room would be wise.
We are in ROOM 245, next to the information desk.

They are going to give us T shirts for trooping. Please let me know what size you would like.

Scotty, sis they have an attendance limit? In years past when we tried to work with them for this event they were very specific about attendance numbers and such.

Also what is the security of the changing room. When we looked last year, they told us the changing room would not be secure. Can you find out? We were told that it was a shared room and people would be in and out and there is no guarantee that people would not mess with your stuff.

There isn't an attendance limit at all. We are going to split up into two groups if we have enough troopers to do so. They want some of us to go through the breakfast (or all of us) and another group to ham it up with walkers and runners who are assembling for the start of the race.

Security of our room is always a concern.
I will try to find out exactly how secure the room is.
It is apparently next to the information desk which gives me hope that the desk is staffed. If so then we should be OK.

We'll have a security detail who is going to be watching to keep the room secure this year.
Should be a fine troop.

If the Rebel sewing chick shows up I'm wearing the Y wing for sure.
Let me know cause I'm still on the fence. I need to mod the flight suit still.

wow...
I started to crunch the numbers to go from my place in Mokena...to Milwaukee...to Algonquin where Cheryl's MSABC event is...
and back home..

and..

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

according to mapquest
approximately 6.5 hours in the car
275 miles round trip
and
$70.00 in gas for my Jeep

that would be for an hour at MU and 2 hours for MSABC....
not sure it computes...
lol...
