I've starting trying to find a pattern to use for our costumes, but from what I understand, the one Simplicity sells is discontinued and also not quite right. I've seen some tutorials on here of how to make your own pattern, but that's kind of going over my head. This is my first time ever sewing clothes so I'm hoping to keep things as simple as I can. Has anyone here made a pattern before that I could use? Or have a recommendation of where I should start?

I also found a pretty much perfect pair of boots last night. I guess that means I've officially started working on this. Exciting!

Erica

As I have said before I am not a crafty person so I would ask about the patterns around on the Jedi costume section of the forum. Do you have a pic. of the boots? posting pics of the items and progress of the costume will get peoples interested and more people will fallow your thread. Also congrats on starting you have taken your first step into a much larger world.

There's a pattern I found that is rather right up the alley of what you want... Simplicity 5840. Hit up a Hancock fabrics and you'll probably find a 99 cent sale, I grabbed a couple at that price last time I was there.

Ah thanks, Mark! That's exactly what I was looking for.

I'll put up a pic of my boots when I get back to my computer.

Bass Outlet for $55. And my mom bought them since she bought my sister boots for school. Score! My kidneys failed so my feet and legs swell up huge when I'm out doing things for any length of time. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to wear the finished costume until after I get a transplant--which could be years down the road if I'm unlucky--since my boot size changes as they swell. These ones are elastic in the back so I'd be able to wear them and they'd grow with me.

Sarah got the same boots today. And I promise she's a real person. I keep talking about her like she's my imaginary friend or something. She just hasn't had her account activated yet, I swear. ha.

Found that Simplicity pattern on amazon for cheaps. It shipped today. Now I just gotta figure out how exactly one goes about sewing a pattern haha. I have a friend who I could probably get to help me out. I'll offer to watch her kids or something.

Not yet. I don't know how much to buy. I did just get a buttload of Jo Ann's coupons in the mail today. 50% off!

I'm thinking of going for a brown color scheme and I know Sarah's liking black and white.

I found a guy on Etsy that sells Jedi belts and he said he could probably make a cruelty free one for me. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to find what I wanted in something that wasn't leather. I'm excited now!
