Saw Thrawn at CVI and have been dying to know if a generic Chiss would be accepted in the Rebel Legion. There are numerous pictures of them now but not all with the same attire. I would be open to doing either the military attire or the civilian attire if they would be accepted.

Hi, Jade -

I am in process on a Thrawn, but as the Chiss are one of my favorite species, I did ask about portraying a Chiss pilot for the Alliance earlier this year. The bottom line I was given was that the costume would be judged based upon appearance first, species second. Two things to keep in mind, however...

First, a proper Chiss with fully red eyes would scleral lenses. Because neither the RL nor the 501st allow CRLs that require medical devices (like contacts) you should in theory be able to apply without them. (Plenty of images of Thrawn with shaded eyes.) However, I have been advised by both a RL LCJ and a 501st GML to either do it WITH scleral lenses or with no lenses at all. Ie: Dont apply with red pupils or some half measure. Just go without if you cannot afford or wear scleral lenses.

Second, so far as I know, neither group has yet opened up to specific Chiss Ascendancy style military uniforms, so you'd have to do them as emigres to the known parts of the Galaxy.

Alex

Second, neither group has as yet accepted
