Those magnets are going to work just great!

I was hoping they would work...those magnets make life a little simpler...

Very Happy

Wow Wow and Wow! Shocked

Awesome!

Hey! since the helmet has all that space inside the chin area... have you thought about adding "technoBS" thingies? you know, for added realism?

screens, lights, metallic thingies or wires and cables. sort of like this but suited for your helmet shape:

Looks great. On a personal note, I'd have made the vest a bit smaller, but it's not something that would stand in the way of approval.

Nice job! Cool

(and love the weathering on the helmet.)

Indeed I have considered doing just that. I whipped in some bubble wrap in the chin and had thought about adding some wiring. It's kind of on the back burner right now but I will get around to it. I have all kinds of do dads laying around here. Model parts, and rockets.
Thanks for all the kind comments everyone.

I actually did make it slightly smaller than the original measurements I was given....
and when I finished it though
I thought it did still look a little large...

but..
hey...
I am guessing that most of the pieces were made for the movie as a sorta "one size fits all" thing anyway....

Wink

Maybe at some point I will get around to one of these myself....sans bucket....

Looks like it came out well. Nice job to the both of you!

Though I do agree with Jon, the vest could perhaps be a little smaller. Just my opinion, but the belt should probably be visible (gotta remember that in most of the shots we see of the Y-wing pilots, they're sitting down).
Even so, it looks like it came out pretty well!

Scott,

When the smoke clears from CVI... if you want I can weather your costume to match that bucket of yours.

Right now it looks like your spending too much time with your head out of the Y-wing!

Smile

Bob

Hey Bob,
Yeah, I want to do that but I'd also like to
Take in my arms and legs a bit first. Too much extra material
but I worry about the arms. If I have too much removed then i might
Have a tough time getting into the suit. Its one of those half length zipper jobs.
I'm not going to CVI any longer.

There is at least one original helmet that did have a quite thick wire with a large round metal connector coming out of the bottom. I don't know if all of them had one.

Yeah, that cable is on the port side of the helmet.
Star Wars helmets .com has great pics. of that.
It was on display at Star Wars in concert and someone took great pics of it and sent them in.
Seeing that display when we did SWIC likely solidified my
dreams to do a Y Wing costume.
I can find that connector...
