Hello all, I'm not a member of the rebel legion yet, but you may have seen me trooping around in my 501'st persona Cad Bane at several of the local events.

Most of that costume I made myself, and I've decided to take my mask making skills and create an iconic character from the original trilogy, while attempting to join the rebels.

That character, being any one of the Bith in the Cantina band.
I've just finished the sculpt and will be making the mold in the next few days. If all goes well I should be able to cast some masks by the weekend.
I'll update this post, as the mask and costume progresses.

I bring this up because I can't find requirements listed for an approved Cantina band member, and want to make sure the costume meets standards. Any help would be appreciated in this.

I'm including some pictures of the final sculpt so you can see how things are going.

Oh and one other thing, does anyone have some copies of the group photo we took at the pcc? I was one of the 501'st in the image and would love a copy if possible.

Thanks, Niels.

Those look great. You should to check with the judges in the "Fringe" and "Rebel Supporters" categories and see which one you fall under. Tell them your ideas, and see what sort of things they'd be looking for in a costume.

FRINGE
- Martin (Wookiewannabe) - Wookiees
- Greg Alonso (theeviltwin) - Fringe / Han Solo

• CREATURES/DROIDS/REBEL SUPPORTERS
- Jada Diaz (Jada)
- Kellie Hendley (Amalphiea) - Jawas

Thanks, I sent a PM to Greg Alonso, I'll see what he can dig up as far as requirements.

Hi Niels -

How do you plan to do his eyes? Some sort of black plastic lens?

I have a few ideas,
1. Contact the bounty hunters guild and find out what they use for Greedo's eyes, and go with that.

2. Find some big 70's sunglasses at the thrift store and mount them in the eye sockets.

3. Get some ski goggles and mount them inside.

Right now I'm at the scariest part of the mask making process, making the mold.
If this fails than I loose the sculpt and go back to square one.
I have the front half of the mask mold setting, and will work on the back half tomorrow morning. keeping my fingers crossed.

I finished making the mold, and pulled out my first cast this morning.
This is the point where I find out if the last 6 weeks of work was worth it, or if I have to start over.

Here's a photo of the first bith cast, I'm very happy with it turned out, now I just need to paint it, and work on the rest of the costume.

Glad your enjoying the progress on this Bith mask.
Here's the painted mask stuck on my head.
Now the question is how to get the head to sit right while getting the neck to lay down flat.

I'm thinking I'll shave down a bicycle helmet, and add a couple fans to the inside. That will take care of the fitting issue.
Maybe cut out the neck and sew it to some cloth so it will sit inside a shirt, and not outside.

I'll ponder this, while I work on making a model of the hands.

Haven't started on the hands, but I did find a good shirt for the costume.
I just finished making a Flu horn out of the junk in my Garage, heres an updated photo if anyone's interested.

First, thanks all for the votes of confidence on this costume, I sent in approval pictures recently, and also premiered the completed Bith costume live on stage with Weird Al Yankovic.last night. Fantastic cool experience I must say and now my Flu horn is signed by Al himself.

This morning I received my feedback on the costume, and would love to say I'm one of the good guys now.
Alas that's not the case, there were several issues with the costume one was my own fault when I took the picture.
The other two, I need clarification on the comments before I try to remedy them.
Heres a fun photo of the bith that isn't quite up to snuff, yet.

As a huge "WIERD AL" fan I salute and commend you! Thumbs up

I applaude and praise you! bow

I have been a fan since I was very young and I have the majority of his albums, many were on cassette, (That may say something) I have been to a few of his concerts.

I was just as his previous one but did not have time to see this one (no real need) But I have never gotten his autograph...I think? I would have to look through many boxes of old packed up stuff to see, nothing I have on hand, but I do not think I had a chance to get it.

You lucky dog, Congragulations! cheers
