I wonder if they thought of the idea AFTER they saw my RL image. I drew up Yoda with some shades... Hmmm... That would be pretty cool.

ok...
so I went to my favorite $5.00 matinee movie place yesterday and saw

"The Amazing Spider Man"....

and..

well..
I saw the last series with Tobey MacGuire...
and..
this installment was really different in a lot of ways..

since I don't read comics..

which of the versions is more close to the original comic books?

Well, I'd say the Toby MacGuire movies are probably closer to the comics over all, especially the older ones.

but...
one thing I did do when I got home was to try to figure out the leading lady...

there was no Mary Jane in this movie version...

but Gwen Stacey (I think that was her name...sigh...can't retain anything anymore)

and when I googled that...
I came up with some youtube stuff of the really old comics showing the "death of Gwen Stacey"...

so then I kinda didn't know what was what...

Yeah Gwen Stacy is Peter's first real girlfriend and the story arc with her leading to her death is considered one of the best stories in all of comics.

Amazing Spiderman takes a lot from more of the modern comics, where the other movies were more firmly planted in the 60s.

interesting..

one thing..
well..
for me anyway..

is that I enjoyed the current movie version more than the Tobey MacGuire series of movies...

for some reason..
the one I saw yesterday was not as "depressing" as the MacGuire ones...

I hate going to the movies and being depressed..

lol...

there is enough depressing "real life" to go around these days...

I actually liked the Amazing Spider-Man. I thought it was more in tune with the comics than the previous three.

Their was a couple of things that irked me about it. One was the re-telling of the origin story. We saw it 10 years ago and I felt they spent too much time on it. The other was the mask coming off.

Other than that it was pretty good

Yeah I agree, but I think that origin has a lot to do with the overall story of the trilogy, rather than just the way he gets his powers.

The thing that ticked me off is that he doesn't find the guy who killed Ben. That's such an important motivator that it bothers me, but I hope that means its paying off later.

I wondered that too...
and....
I rather liked the start of this current movie...showing the dad and mom...
I don't remember the other trilogy doing that...
and I am looking very forward to the next movie in this new line...
for the previous trilogy I was kinda...
"meh" about waiting to see the second installment..
but..
this one..
I am honestly looking forward to...

AWESOME!

Sounded really great and you guys did a great job in supporting a new author...

Kudos..
and..

Same here....this stuff is on my "to read" list...

I finally just finished the "Fate of the Jedi" series last week...

If anyone wants to read "Fate of the Jedi"...I have them all and I am done with them..
the only one you would have to pick up would be the first one...
"Outcast"...
my copy is signed by Aaron Allston...so I am hanging on to that one...

I just thought of this...you don't watch the clone wars cartoon, so you missed out on the whole father, son, daughter connection between "fate of the Jedi" and the cartoon. I really liked this series, but that was one part that I really really liked . you got to start watching it. you are missing out on some real cool stuff Laughing

Since u have a BluRay player now, u are welcome to borrow Rob's. (See how I just loaned out his stuff?? Lol.) The animated series starts off kind of kid-ish. I was NOT a fan of Ahsoka. It actually took 2 seasons (maybe 3) for me to even tolerate her. But now they are all Bad-Asses.

Yeah the first season and a half or so aren't too great, although some of the best episodes in the series are in that period as well. (Rookies!)
