Made a Dickie today and sewed it to an old undershirt I had. I can't decide how well I like it...

Good job on the tabbards and the underdress, these really look nice now.
And I too like your colour combination! Mr. Green

Ordered and received my boots. The calves were considerably too small so I went down to Joann's and bought some vinyl upholstery material that was as close to the boots original color as possible and sewed in a gusset. They aren't spectacular but they should work well and I am pleased.

Were it me, and I had such an exact color match on the vinyl gusset, I might make a few (3-4) vinyl straps to velcro 'round the tops. Sort of disguise the "V" panels a bit. Cut them in this sort of curve so they lay flatter against the calf (practice the curve with paper til it lays flat):

I love how the tabards came out btw. I'm going with the contrasting colors myself on a new tunic for CVI.

I was considering just doing a few straps that go all the way around the boot like the ones that come with spats. I think I definitely want to do at least one around the top.

Thanks for the input

New question, I was thinking about making my own robe but the cost of fabric is proving to be a bit of a deterrent for me at the moment. What would the opinion be of something like the following?

http://www.utopiabase.com/movie-themes/star-wars/jedi/dark-brown-robe.html

http://www.utopiabase.com/movie-themes/star-wars/jedi/mace-windu-robe.html

Thanks again!

if you just want to for approval to have it will work. If you want some thing thats top of the line and is made of movie accurate fabric go to some other place.

In general, I would not recommend skimping on the robe.
You're better off saving up a bit, and doing it right, than
redoing it later on, at the additional cost of a new robe.

And I've found robes to be extremely useful.
Either for keeping you and your saber(!) dry, keeping you warm,
without cooking you in 'normal' weather.

And looking at the rest of your costume, it would be a
shame if you'd finish it off with something of, shall we say,
'lesser quality'...

I concur. The robe is the final, crowning piece in the Jedi ensemble. It needs to look good, or it throws the whole costume off. Invest in a good one, with all the right stuff - big sleeves, a huge hood, and lots and lots of fabric. It will cost a bit more, but it will look infinitely better. Trust me.

Cool

Here are my submission pics. I will need to photoshop in my blade but all in all I am pleased. These will just be for informal status. I have food capsules on the way but still need to make my robe and get a couple patches.

Thoughts?
