Stainless steel is NOT magnetic, but the idea would be attaching a magnet to the broach and then attaching one to the other side of the material. As far as the design goes, it's good, but the ring looks a bit too thin, but perhaps that's just me.

I say do the design on a computer, and compare it to the broach in the pictures. You could even skew the design so it's at the same angle to be sure you have the proportions right.

To get the overall size, simply consider the broach in proportion to Kyp's face, and then consider your face.

Looks like my friend won't be able to make the brooch, his tool for making the precise details is broken. Are there any alternatives to this?

What exactly was he going to use? I have a lot of Dremel attachments I'd be willing to loan.

Another alternative to the metallic version would be leather that would be painted metallic. I did the belt buckle for my wife's Barriss in leather and then attached it to the belt itself. This way, you can use the Dremel's filing tips to not only buff out the larger, deeper grove atop the Rebel symbol (providing the symbol is in relief) and then a pointed tip for the fine work around the edges.

Once that is done and spray painted (lucky it is only one color with maybe a hand painted edge) it could be permanently attached to one side of the cloak and a bit of industrial velcro on the opposite side (and cloak edge) could pin the two edges together for wear.

Just throwing out an alternative thought.

The brooch, my friend still plans to make, his Dremel broke and one is coming in next week.

my belt and bandolier still has to be figured out.

The cape I am getting helped made by Ryan, we will finish it for Steel City

I haven't updated this in a while, but i will show 2 pictures for updates!

This picture is the closest thing to a full body shot of the costume in its current state. Shawn Arbukckle of Garrison Carida of the 501st is next to me. The cape needs a hood and needs to fit better around the shoulders. I need a bandolier and a wider belt as well. The cape and the tunic also need to be frayed

Ryan and I fashioned the insignia out of plastic bin material and spray painted it to have the bronze effect. It stayed on the cape pretty well for Steel City Con, but it's certainly only temporary. My friend still plans on making one out of stainless steel

If anyone has any ideas about anything please share! I am stuck on the bandolier and belt

Off to a great start!!! I'd dirty it up overall as well, just to show more 'battle used' looks for a toughened Jedi!

On a side note, you're going to get a different lightsaber, right?

Thanks Mark for reminding me!
As an update, my friend who created the tunic will throw on the addition of the hood! After that we will dirty it up and make it battle worn and such. Same with the tunic, altho I will approach that with caution because it is a delicate material.
I will definitely be getting another saber. I sketched a design I want to make since there are no sources of Gantoris's lightsaber, and I would rather have a custom one done instead buying Mace Windu's FX.
I've heard Parks is good, and custom saber shop..
I would like to craft my own, but I do not have the time or resources to build one. I would like to have Kyp ready for C6, and I'm willing to put money into a good saber.

That's a great start! However, I would suggest you tighten things up a bit. It needs to have a more fitted look. It's definitely too baggy looking right now.

The boots look great! I've got canvas we can use to wrap 'em next time I see you. And yes, looking at that picture of Kyp from the NEGTC, I would get the legs fitted same as you did the arms.
