Hello all! I'm Julie from South Jordan, Utah. I am a huge Star Wars fan and this summer I have been working on my very first costumes for Celebration VI. So far I've semi-completed my Clone Wars Barriss Offee costume, and I'm still working on an Ahoska Tano (season 4) for my sister.
Here are pics of my own costume:

The only problem I've encountered is....lightsabers. I am not crafty at all with building one and there seems to be such a massive selection that it can be overwhelming. Can anyone steer me towards the right direction in finding just a simple, affordable lightsaber? I want quality but my budget isn't big enough for all the bells and whistles. Thanks in advance!
Looking forward to trooping with ya'all, even though I can't *officially* join the Rebel Legion yet, I still would love to participate in any event if possible. Very Happy

Welcome, it looks like your Clone Wars Barriss is coming along quite nicely.

Barriss' saber (at least in the movie) was a clan saber hilt like many of the other female Jedi that was a simple silver design, but without the top part of the emitter (after the two washer-like shapes that are the same size if I remember right.

Same as the Adi one here:

One place you could look would be Ultrasabers.com. They're not all that expensive and have some good ones. I made my wife's Barriss sabre with some help from my father-in-law (metal lathe).

Best of luck with it and we'd be glad to have you as part of the Ilum Temple and Knights of the Jedi order.

It's beautiful! Welcome to the Legion; your costume is wonderful! You make a lovely Barriss. Do you plan to do a movie cloak as well? Then you could have two different costumes!

As for lightsabers, the cheapest I can think of is the Obi-Wan FX saber with removable blade; I don't know where you could get a Barriss-style hilt. Hopefully you find something soon. Welcome again!

Your costume looks great, and it will be nice seeing more members at Celebration!
I have a green Luke skywalker fx saber that I don't need, its not the best hilt match for bariss, but I can let it go for 50 bucks so its cheap.

Welcome aboard.

I agree with Mike about Ultrasabers. Very decent price for a good product. I got my Episode 3 Obi-Wan from them and it works great.

Welcome Julie. Depending on the price range you are looking in, there are quite a few custom saber builders on the web. Often times the best route is to keep an on on eBay, as sellers will occasionally make one or two replicas. Another option is to join the forums over at The Custom Saber Shop and search for Barriss and see what pops up. You might find someone who has made one and, even if they're not in the market to sell, might provide you with a path to follow to get your own.

All the best,
J

I shall look into Ultrasabers.com, I really like the selection they offer.
About that Barriss cloak...I wouldn't mind doing it I mean the more costumes the merrier eh?

Don't forget to watch the forum for events that are coming up. It will give you a chance to meet the other members and try trooping. If you can arrange the time and travel you should try to make it to the Preston parade, its a fun event and there will be lots of members from the RL and the 501st.

I wish I could attend! But anything further north than SLC is too far for car-less Master Aldeggon. Cool As for your costume, Barrissa, I can't wait to see more pictures! You make a lovely Barriss.

I totally would love to go but Idaho is too far from me Crying or Very sad
I saw on the Alpine Garrison calendar that there's an event on the 14th, and I was wondering if Rebel Legion was invited because I could go to that in my new Barriss outfit Laughing
Thanks Aldeggon - I shall post more pics once my sister's outfit is done so we can pull the Ahsoka/Barriss padawan thing. Smile
