Thank you Jason.

Some of our members have already been evacuated and other are on stand-by and still others are wanting to help in some way.

The people most affected need as many good thoughts and prayers as possible.

Glad I looked for the thread because I was about to start a new one Wink

Got a friend working on a patch design for us, she may be a little behind as she's working on some art for JAT to present him with at CVI and her costumes. This one will be firefighter oriented.

Rather than email the Red Cross, which is probably inundated right now, I will personally stop by one of the shelters here in the next couple of coming days in the Springs to see what we can do by way of entertaining kids. Work is interfering with this, expecting me to go about my normal work day duties. Boo. (Tho our Care and Share drive was a big success!)

With some notice, we may have an additional helper/handler in the way of a supervisor at work, who wants to help.

Thanks so much Jason.

We heard late this afternoon as affected streets were announced that our brothers and sisters in the 501st, their homes were not on the list of affected areas. So their homes as of right now are still standing, but they are not cleared to return yet. The fire danger is still too high.

Shana,
check with Brack to see if he wants to do a joint patch. I put the idea out there. Why just do it for one group when we can get both involved...

Yup, this design is definitely going to be joint in design. I'll reach out to Brack to let him know.

Shana, I forgot to mention to get the RLMO ok for this patch.

Jason, thanks for your words.

Reminder to all: The Fourth of July Monument Parade is still on. If you are available, please go to that thread and sign up. The parade is currently in the pre-evac zone but our brave fire fighters and others are keeping the fire back. The fire is 10% contained.

With this fire going on and the expectation of 100% containment not till July 15th, lets put a smile on some of our neighbors' faces. Dan, Shana and I will keep you all inform of any changes.

Yay red tape! Will run the outline by him, then once it's drawn, let the RLMO see it.

I know the funds are needed now, but they will also be needed in the near future.

The Red Cross shelter at Lewis-Palmer HS in Monument turned me away, the rep I spoke with did not seem interested at all in having further assistance. I still left my card with her, after telling her we could help with entertaining the kids.

I was referred to the other two shelters in town. So that is what I will be doing on my days off this weekend.

I'm going to try a different approach when I go to the evac centers on the south edge of town.

So we'll see what happens tomorrow.

I'm kinda thinking we may just want to focus on some fundraising if we'll be considered 'in the way' at evac centers. Disappointing, but it's one of the things our organizations do best!

Still waiting on the patch design from my friend in Cinci. Does anyone want to reach out to a different artist so that we can get two patches? One for United Way/Red Cross and this one from my friend can go to a fire fighter's fund?

I'm not certain of the protocol involved in reaching out to someone like, oh say, Katie Cook or James Hance.

I'm even pondering badgering my dad on working on something for us, but he hasn't done any artwork in ages.
