I imagine the hardest part will be the bodice. I hope it doesn't take too long for you to figure out, that can be so frustrating. Mad

Thanks! Sounds like you need a Hula Hoop ;-)

I've almost got it figured out. I'm about 80% happy with my 4th draft attempt from last night. When I get home I need to tweak the arms and back strap thingie. I also need to pick up lining for the bodice... can't believe I forgot lining lol.

I've never been able to get them to go for very long. Maybe that's my problem! Laughing I've often considered buying a belly dance or hula for fitness DVD.

I've done the forgetting lining thing before. It seems like such an obvious thing...

Looking good Smile Can't wait to see the bodice, it's a lovely complex seamed pattern Smile
I wish we could ship shells easily as there is a surprising number of tiny shelled necklaces around atm in various second hand stores some of which are also nice and lustrous- already drilled.

My fabric: without flash but in strong contrasting light

With flash:

In darker conditions the darker blue warp shows up more- just hard to capture on camera. It's a metallic tone due to the shot nature of it.
So it's not perfect, but pretty- there is 11m of it at 150cm wide. I'm not planning on making the outfit at all but if the fabric can help others that would be cool Smile Otherwise I have been inspired to make a fantasy costume from it Wink

Oooo pretty fabric! I say go for the fantasy costume Very Happy

I stayed home 'sick' today from work and managed to finish the bodice. I'm pretty happy with it, but I wish I had made the bottom of the front a tiny bit bigger, by about an inch or so. It fits great and I love the swing in the skirt when I walk. I just need to bead it, paint the clips and headband, and get a hair piece Cool

My dress form has a really FAT neck, like 2" bigger than mine lol

EDIT: Headband is almost done!

Wow, that looks awesome! Great work, especially for such a short amount of time!

I never had problems with my dress form's neck until I did a [classic] Battlestar Galactica uniform for a client and it was about 2 or 3 inches too big. It was very difficult getting the collar right. Confused

That looks awesome! Congrats on finishing (almost). The headband looks great. From the photo I'd never guess it was foam. Smile

Your cat seems not very interested in your clothes. ^^ However, she should be: awesome Padmé dress. Smile

haha, cats are only interested in costumes/fabric if there is a fair chance of trapping the human on a sofa/desk/sewing machine and get all the attention Wink Or shed on it. Or both.

Hooray Smile Looks lovely Smile

Does anyone have any high res pictures of the shell beading and clips? I haven't been able to find any. I did find several helpful pictures and discussion at "Kay Dee Designs".

I've searched the forum and I'm not finding much. Pease let me know if there is a thread I've missed and thanks for any help.

Have you seen the Padawan's Guide? There's some pictures there. This is the best of the beading and clip:
