And can the woman settle on just one belt buckle? Or just one belt? Trying to choose between them is exhausting...

I've gotten the go ahead, so now I'm working on writing/wrapping my head around her CRL's.

So, in everyone's professional opinion, do you think her shoulder armor is leather or metal? I'd think metal, but in certain panels it looks dull and flexible.

And is there two belts? Or does the one have a loop on the right side for her holster?

And what do you suggest for the boots? In the second source, they are fairly heavy duty combat looking boots with a pattern on the front. In source 4A her boots are thinner and tighter fitting. In 4C where you can see the top of the boot there's a horizontal line pattern visible, and then on the picture below it we're back in the combat boot area.

Sorry, had to add more questions!

I just got response from Jan Duursema (she created this character with John Ostrander) ....

So ...

I hope, that this helps! Smile

You are my own personal hero! * Kowtows* Did she not know about the boots?

So, do I need pictures from three different sources? Or is one enough? Or just the artist's say so?

And, as a matter of fact, I've picked up fabric for her vest, boots, and pants. And I've gotten a shirt to fit to work for hers. I just have to finish finals week, and I can get down to business!

Thanks!

the charter says you need three references for EU costumes to be accepted;
not three references for each and every detail on the costume. hehe Wink
(some references will always show more 'detail' than others).

the artist's word is a great reference. that carries a LOT of weight. hats off to Blair for taking the time to obtain her input.

when you're done you should send her pictures of your outfit Wink (what better motivation, to do a great job)? hehe

this seems to be the best pic of what she's talking about (re: belt)
http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/6893/kees401.jpg
the one hanging low on the left side is wider, with no buckle, and has a pouch on the hip.
the one on the right side is narrow, with a buckle, and a holster on the hip.
(her gun looks similar to a naboo 'padme' blaster).

other pics show a different holster variant.
there seems to be enough evidence to include standards for both variants as "optional".

Finals are officially over! Now I can get down to business!

Thanks for the input guys! You are the most helpful people in the world!

This is what I've written so far of the CRL. Suggestions and clarification are always appreciated! Very Happy

"1. Dark brown, waist length diamond quilted vest, with a mandarin collar.
2. White long-sleeved shirt with scooped neck. Sleeves pushed up until slightly below elbows.
3. Dirty yellow pants, with a large pocket on the right side. Pants should be slightly loose fitting around the calves to allow for ballooning above the boots, and have a “V” shaped opening at the top middle."

So I started working on her vest today, it's shaping up pretty well. If everything goes as plan, I might be able to have most of her costume done in the next couple weeks.

Anything thoughts on the CRL's so far?

Okay, so I hate my camera in artificial light, but here's the start of my vest.

I've only quilted half of it so far because it takes a REALLY long time. It's too long as well, but I'm going to take care of the edges after quilting.

I actually made a rough attempt at the pants, which came out pretty well, but no one was around to take a picture of them on me, so you peoples with have to wait for a little to see them.

A few more days like today, and I should have most of the costume done! Yay!

I'm going to update! Be proud!

Last weekend was our giant local con, so I tried to get ready for that, (and was hence too busy to update). I didn't get her whole costume ready unfortunately, but got some of the basic things!

I didn't have the goggles, belts, and I have what I think are okay boots, but I cheated and used my wedge heels because I love them so much.

And there was even a wookie! Those heels really make me too tall... Although I'm really technically too tall for her in the first place...

Anyway, hopefully I'll get her blaster, goggles, and belts done in the next few weeks to have it ready submit it when I turn 18! Yay!
