Likely a trick of the camera/tunic angle in relation to one another, or the fabric simply bending over. The collar is a mandarin collar and the opening is straight.

I'm not quit sure what you mean with the last one. Do you mean it could be with a diagonal line, but an opening in the middel, like this \_/, or somthing else?

I kinda meant something like this, sorry for not being clear.

But, if it is indeed like our friend says, then it is a |_| like I did. Smile

Hi. I'm new to this board. Seen some pretty amazing work on here!

I have a question about Luke's black Jedi pants, specifically the black strips along the sides. I've seen pics from museum replicas that clearly show it and on the blu-ray you can see them as Luke is climbing up the side of the sail barge.

My question is are the strips sewn on the legs (the way Han's bloodstripes are) or are they just a design on the fabric? Also, is the color of the strips the same color as the rest of the pants? If anyone has seen the museum replicas pants and knows for sure or if anyone could post a pic that would be awesome. Smile

Thanks!

Well, I found a new seamstress and she's putting together the pants and the shirt as we speak. However, is there a pattern out there for the Sail Barge vest and tabbards?

My costume is looking like it'll be done at the end of April, so it's getting to be crunch time. I just got the boots back from the shop and they fit great so now it's just finishing the rest of the costume.

not that I'm aware of. Mine was custom made by a tailor on screen shots.

With Celebration quickly approaching, it's time to get moving on my costumes.

Has anyone modified an existing shirt to use for Jedi Luke? I looked at a few mandarin-collared dress shirts online, but it's hard to tell how they fit.

I don't know how others did it, but I made mine from the pattern of a normal shirt, and attached a bib over it. Then I made a mandarin-style collar, and took away some material at the sides in order to have a better fit. However, ordering a shirt and addapting this might be more difficult, since the cloth used for a normal shirt looks quite different from what's used in the movie.
Hope this helps
