Hello everyone, I am brand new, and I'm sorry in advance for the many bothersome questions I'll probably be asking Shocked
Ok, I began making a custom twi'lek smuggler to wear for Halloween this year (early, I know), and I was wondering what twi'leks were acceptable as formal costumes if I were to try and join the legion. Must it be a character from the six movies? Or are games and the clone wars tv show also considered canon? And what about the EU?
The only twi'leks I can think of from the movies themselves are either slave dancers, senator's aides, or Aayla. I would prefer a more gritty, everyday working class type character, which is why I was going with a smuggler for my custom character.
Any suggestions on a formal legion-approved twi'lek costume like this?

Off the top of my head, if it is seen in the movies or Clone Wars it is accepted as canon.

If it is a game it needs 3 references of the same costume. As an example - Visas Marr has more than 3 separate references of her costume so she is accepted.

References are official LFL material - comics, cards, reference, etc.

TBH, I'm not sure about a generic smuggler.

Ah, thanks for your reply. I'm just having a hard time finding a character I like enough to do... I don't really want to show more skin than I have to, I'm ok with baring my midriff, but besides that, I don't feel comfortable showing off stuff I wouldn't normally leave hanging out of clothes. While Supi and Miela are fairly well covered for twi'leks, I didn't want to look senatorial. *sigh*
Rianna Saren is closer to what I'm looking for, but being a game character, I don't know if she's referenced anywhere else. I also kinda wanted to paint myself an outlandish color, lol.
I found this picture from the clone wars:
http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/c/c5/Nabat_Twi%27leks.jpg
I guess if all else fails I could just be a Ryloth civilian. Neutral
And I'm sorry for being a n00b, but what do LFL and TBH mean?

Then again, the beautiful designs in the 'trio of twi'leks' forum is making me rethink my 'no dancers' mantra...A generic dancer may be the way to go for me...

There's a gallery of Twi'lek characters here:

http://www.chucrew.com/twilekcelebration/gallery/index.php

You can look through to see if anything catches your eye, and then figure out if that character has enough references for approval.

Pam :-)

Thanks so much Pam. You're a legend among us twi'lek lovers Smile I'll look through the gallery for ideas.

This is what I found for the guidelines for generic twi'lek dancers here on the site:

Required Items:
Lekku in color that matches painted face and exposed painted skin color, preferably skin-like appearance as opposed to fabric finish
Leather or clothe head wrapping
Accurate ear-caps

Ok, so everything is pretty obvious except that last one. What is considered accurate ear-caps? The differences are fairly great if you compare Oola to a prequel twi'lek. What are considered good dimensions for them? Also, must they match my body paint or could I have them bone white?

I'd ask one of the Fringe Costume Judges about a generic Twilek smuggler.

I think I have shelved the smuggler for now... It was mostly old clothes I was going to alter, and it was missing the star wars 'feel'.
I've drawn a dancer concept art, but I can't seem to get it to post Bang Head stupid iPhone! Does anyone know how to post pictures from an iPhone camera?
Oh, and how would I find one of these costume judges?
And I just realizes something else: leather or cloth headwraps... Is black leather-textured vinyl ok?

Yes! Put the pictures on photobucket and now it lets me post them. Yay!
Sorry for bad pic quality Embarassed

If you can't picture the outfit from my drawings (I'm certainly no artist), here's a picture of a similar outfit. I'm just using one belly keyhole instead of 2, and changing the skirt to 'mudflaps' and leggings. I'm tempted to attempt the asymmetrical sleeves... For some reason asymmetrical designs make think of twi'leks (Aayla, perhaps? Laughing)

Ok, just made a better sketch. Dotted lines indicate seams

And the hands, shoes and head wrap:

Do y'all think this will be ok for a dancer? Lemme know what you think.

This would be accepted as an informal costume. The costume must be something that we have seen in LFL material - movie, TV, comics, etc.

An informal costume cannot be your first costume.

You could make a Twi'lek pilot, Jedi, even a Rebel Trooper but it has to be a costume that has been documented.

If this costume has been on one of the TCW episodes, please take a screen capture of the costume and post it.

Oh... When I saw 'twi'lek slave dancer' in the costume guidelines, I took it to mean I came up with an outfit myself...I guess that category is just there for canon dancers besides Oola and Lyn Me?
