This all looks wonderful girls! I have a few people in my base that are thinking of doing some hand maiden costumes as well. Smile

Do you know if anyone has done the green velvet hand maidens from the end of Ep. 1 with Queen Amidala at the parade celebration? I may start a separate thread about that.

Sister Sola has an amazing version, IMHO.

Iíve done a ďI donít know what Iím doing, but Iím doing it anywaysĒ version. LOL!
I donít think there are that many intricate detailsÖ you should be able to figure everything out.

If Iíve got time, Iíll try and dig out some of my making-of things, try and put something together. At least to start a tutorial.

We needed 22 yards of velvet, and we had 18.5. After jig-sawing the hell out of those patterns, the only costume that had to make any sacrifices was mine (I lost 2 inches off the hem, but that's okay since I had added 1 inch in anyway) and a few inches from the fullness of the skirt.

After that, we had a whopping 2 millimeters of velvet left. Shocked

I spent last night unpleating and beginning to repleat other pieces of the cotton. Got the backs cut out. Today's goal: get this shirt done.

So. Many. Pleats.

Didn't get shirt done by a long shot. That piece of fabric took 3 hours alone. I did get that sleeve cut out, the front pleated and cut out, and drew all the pleat lines for the other sleeve. That's tomorrow's project.

Though I completely forgot to buy bias tape at Joann's for the zipper. jeez

I feel you there. Pleats were making me crazy.

Just think, the most annoying part of this project is now behind you!

Sad day, indeed. But soon, pleating shall be behind you!

Shiny shiny velvet, and the beginning of pew pews! Good times. Smile

Trim has arrived!

Rest assured, this trim is not terrorist trim. The Department of Homeland Security made sure of it:

Jenna sewed her lining last night and it is gorgeous! Sadly, that picture is on my good camera, and I didn't upload it last night. But it is in fact pretty fabulous.

You guys will get done no worries. Me... well, we'll see how far I get this weekend. Might not be done in time for my group's TPM event, but I'm hoping for Saturday.

IT'S A CHARMOOSE!

Also, I finally got my serger to stop hating me after I gave it some oil. It's amazing how much better it works now! I have a whole new appreciation for the phrase "well oiled machine."

Looking great ladies! Are you hand sewing the trim to the velvet or machine?
