Comments: Plunge participants take a quick dip in the Chesapeake Bay to raise funds for Special Olympics Maryland, the state’s largest year-round organization devoted to sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. In addition, it is a winter festival with 60 plus vendors, music, food, entertainment, and more!

From Ray, the OLG organizer:Alright, troops. I had a teleconference with SOMD today. We are really going to need a lot of teamwork to pull this off.
I need to hear from any members who have any of the following things:
A van
An SUV
A Truck
A bus
A canopy tent to be used as a changing area
An electric heater
Spare carpeting or tarps for a floor in the aforementioned tent

I'm going to actually be plunging. If you guys want to come out in costume to help support the plunge team and I, this would be great. Besides, Jedi robes are warm and comfy.

We have a significant challenge ahead of us at this point. I met with the organizers at Special Olympics Maryland yesterday, and t appears as if we are only being given 2 parking passes for the entire group, and we will have to provide our own tent/canopy for a secure changing area. If anyone can assist with some of the things I mentioned in Kellie's post above, please let me know.

I'll have access to my company's van if we want it. It's a E350. Big bugger that we use to haul our trailer with. So while dusty in there you could sleep 3 people in there pretty easily.

I may also be able to borrow the company van. It's a Chevy 3500 express van, also a bit dusty, but it's roomy, and it has padlocks for the rear doors so we could use to change and secure personal items in it. At the very least I know I can borrow a tarp from work for a floor(it's huge, so we'd have plenty of material to fold over for added insulation.)

Either way, I'm a maybe for this at this point.

That's the idea we're going for now. But the folks in cloth costumes can also park in the big lot and ride the shuttle in since they don't have to change once there.

What are the times on this event? In the header, it says 2pm. Is this the arrival time, start time? What time is the estimated end time?

Sorry for the 20 questions, but I need to check this against my work schedule.

I believe 2pm is the plunge time that our CO is taking. Given that we also typically do meet-and-greet with the crowds, and that we need set-up time, everyone would need to be there earlier than two. Also, I'm not sure what you're seeing, but on my screen the header shows 9am start time.

As to end time, from my experience, we usually go till the event is over plus some change for striking any tables we have set up.And then we go out to dinner and have a bit of laid back fun.

Unfortunately, looks like I'm gonna end up being a no-go for this *sad face*

Mine says 10am start time, which is what I put on the header. Please make sure that under your settings that you are set to the correct time zone.

I am plunging at 1pm. Because of the crowds expected, aim to get to parking by 10am so that you can catch the shuttle bus to the site. Parking at Sandy Point is very limited.
There is no changing area for us, not sure what happened with all of that.

Ok, just to make sure that I have the info correct:

Arrival and Change time: 10AM (I corrected my profile to read -5GMT for EST and now the top reads 9AM start time)?
Plunge time: 1PM
Event ending: Undefined
Parking: Navy-Marine Corps Stadium – Annapolis? Anne Arundel Community College – Arnold?

I got a lot of balls in the air and I need to know what is expected so I do not disappoint.

Not having done this particular event in the past, what time do we typically wrap things up? Are we meeting up at a central area/parking lot prior to the event? I assume that we are changing at our vehicles, not that there is anything wrong with that.

If time allows, I will definitely be up for lunch/dinner after the event. I know that they have always been fun at past events.

Sorry to hear that you aren't going to make it Josh, it would be nice to meet you.
