Hello everyone,

New to costuming, but already bitten by the bug. Im currently completing a TK (should i even say that here? Mr. Green ) but already planning more costumes.

Just here kinda lurking in the background for now...but definatly giving some serious thought to doing a pilot costume.

Already got some great links to parts and jumpsuits, but have to fight the urge until i complete my first project.

Just wanting to see how the other half live wedge

I'm sure I'll be bugging everyone soon with lots of questions and needed tips Very Happy

I enjoy helping any way I can.
just like with any costume... research research research!
don't buy anything if you are not sure.

got questions on any part of the pilot costume, I am sure one of us here can answer it.
at least as far as the x-wing pilot costume..

X-wing pilot is pretty much in the bag here...

I have a Yahoo Group that I set up with tutorials and information on how the rest of us "Outlaws" did our costumes, what we used, and tutorials on how to make your own pieces....etc..

that Yahoo Group is here:

http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/outlawsquadron/?yguid=122878206

You have to join the group to see the contents...

and that reminds me Crix..

I need to add more links to suppliers of jumpsuits and what not...

Have you heard anything regarding that Cosplay source?

and then there was the other one
Custom props?

I know that Jim likes their flak vest better...but any feedback on their other X-Wing pieces?

can't say as I blame him as I think Costume Base is getting lazy with their stuff...

If you are interested in any of the Troopers...

then I have other Yahoo Groups for those:

http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/tantive/?yguid=122878206

http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/icestationecho/?yguid=122878206

http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/endorbunker/?yguid=122878206

and

http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/yavinhangar/?yguid=122878206

but

If there is one thing I would caution you on is...

finish one before you start on another!!

this learned the hard way..

Wink

I've heard great things about all of Custom-props' xwing stuff, but I'd hold off on getting a flightsuit until MonCal's suits are available. They're going to be a far better option for a decent price.

for jumpsuits... I also hear good things about Custom-props...

but I am very curious about MonCal's.. they look awesome!
looks to be the most accurate and a decent price..

if they are what he claims.. they might be the best out there.

they are not ready for sale yet. right now they are taken interest.

Yeah,
looked at MonCals suits...now they changed the post so us non-RL can see them. They look awesome, but i guess if thats the route i go, then i'd have to have someone from here buy it for me, as i cant access the thread?

Thanks for all the info Phyllis, will definatly be looking into the pilot section. Oh, Dan Siemak says Hi Mr. Green

We can pass you the information when it comes time to order, its just that damn catch 22 of how we have to operate legally that the stuff can't be posted for easy access.

Once upon a time I thought that for the money, Costume Base was a pretty good option...

but...
recent things I have seen coming from them are now making me want to direct others elsewhere...

I think I will delete the link to Costume Base at the Yahoo Group as soon as MonCal's stuff is "out there".

Hmmm, just wondering,
must you be an X-wing pilot to be in the sqaudron? all i see are orange suits, but the unit's logo is sporting an A, a B, a X, and a Y. Just curious if pilot costumes other then Xs are allow in outlaws, or even if it matters if your in outlaws? I mean it'd be cool to be part of outlaws, but just being in base wouldnt be different would it?

Just wondering...

the orange x-wing is the most common and reconizable costume, but all pilots are welcome in the Outlaws... A,B,Y even a Naboo pilot costume could be a Outlaw
all the parts for x-wing are farily easy to get.. the others not so much..
thats why all you see is X-wings pilots

I believe ANH pilots are all the orange.. X and Y are exactly the same costume.
so you could pick a ANH Y-Wing.

but you dont have to be a Outlaw if you dont want to. you can be a pilot and not join any squadron. As CO of Outlaw Squadron, I would love for you to join, but you dont have to.

we have a snow speeder pilot... I dont think approved yet..but almost there.
and there is a RoTJ Y-wing pilot in progress in WI.

Acutally...I think you can only join a squadron tied to your Base...
but you don't have to sign up to be part of Starfighter Command...which is the Detachment we all start out with...

I wrote that wrong. You can only join the squadron of your base. Which for us is the outlaws for IL/WI. You can't join a squadron of another base.
You do not have to join a squadron(which would be the outlaws) if you don't want to.
I Hope you do, but don't have to.

No it doesn't matter what pilot costume you have, technically Clone pilots count too, you can be a member of this squadron if you choose. I designed our patch specifically to show that, although they all allow any pilot, because if you go and look at all the patches, they're almost all X-wings. I wanted to represent all our rebel fighters.

Thanks for all the replys and info...
I would love to join the outlaws Mr. Green

I would want to be a member of "my" base's squadron, as a pilot. I was just unsure if to be a member of the outlaws, i would have to be an X-wing pilot, as that was all i saw. I just didnt know if it was an "all x-wing" squadron. Thank you for clearing it up for me.

Right now im just in the process of chasing down links, reading others builds, and possibly aquiring a needed peice here and there.

Im definatly going for pilot, I definatly would join the outlaws once i have costume, and i definatly havent decided which to do yet Mr. Green

X-wings look cool, and probably, im guessing here, the most recognizable pilots to the common fan, but im thinking maybe something a lil different to mix it up Mr. Green

and jim, i love the patch...think its cool that outlaws shows the different fighters, which makes me wanna strive towards possibly making something other then X-wing...but as i said, im new to this, so alot would depend on whats availible, and hard it will be to create

Thanks again everyone for all the encouragment and info...feel like im already a part of the group Very Happy

Well thanks, that means a lot.

I'll tell you flat out though, that as much as I would love to see us have all the pilot types accounted for, you must understand that right now any costume other than an x-wing pilot will require just about everything being made from scratch. If you're up to the challenge, then more power to you, you're a better costumer than I.

We're here to help you regardless of which path you take, no doubt about it, but I figured you need to be aware up front.
