So, Chewbacca is more or less 'done'.

At least in the sense that I was able to wear him all weekend at GEEX with minimal problems.

So, I'm making this thread in part to announce that Chewie is done and I'm really excited about it, and in part to ask for advice/help.

I already got a fair amount of advice from those who were at GEEX and Ill try to list that below, but if you have any opinions or suggestions, please just post them. I plan on continuously making improvements and repairs on Chewie, as I'm sure most everyone does with their costumes.

------------
List of repairs/improvements:
Shoulder pads ( need to make it bulkier)

Cooling vest (could add to the bulk)

I'm going to redo the feet so they look more like feet and less like blocks, and hopefully are easier to walk in

Attach the bandolier more securely so it doesn't' slide down ((most likely going to sew it to the suit itself))

Better gloves: the ones I have don't photograph well in my opinion. Ideas/thoughts?

Find a way to attach the 'arms' to the gloves so they don't slide down when I lift my arms.

Get some heavy duty hair spray for the face ((Melissa I know you were mentioning a brand yesterday but I can't remember it))

I need to trim down the chin internally

Put better padding on the inside of the mask.

Figure out how to get the jaw to open and close ((it has hinges, they just take a LOT of pressure to move.))

Rig up a sound system: I can't make the wookiee sounds and even when i try it's muffled. I'm following http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33579 that tutorial, and have it pretty much done, Just need to go buy some speaker wire and connector caps, but it did work on my test run. I just need to determine where on the suit I'll put it so it doesn't 'bulge' too noticeably.

I think the back of the neck isn't as 'covered' as it needs to be, so I may need to sew a hair skirt extension on that.

There are a few bald spots on the top back of the skull

I may need a cup. I got elbowed/hit there a LOT accidently during GEEX.

---------------

Okay, that's all I can think of for now. I'll update this as I go, and once again, comments, suggestions, and ideas are all appreciated.

Are you sure it was accidentally? Razz

I don't have anything to add to the list you already have.. I think for me the feet stand out the most as needing fixing.. having said that, it's an awesome suit and I know how much work you have put into it Smile

Actually, Dart's will be our 2nd Chewie. Chinook Wook in southern Utah has been doing an excellent wookiee for a long time.

Dart, you should be congratulated for all the hard work you've done. I agree with the alterations you want to make. You could have the perfect Chewie after they are all done.

Thanks again everyone, and speaking of Chinook Wook, I know you wanted to see it, so when you do, please give me your feedback!

Hahah, thanks, and no rush. I have midterms this week to keep me busy.

I haven't measured but I was aiming to hit 7'. I think I did. I'll get someone with a tape measure next time I'm in it.

I think you got closer to 8 or 9 feet with the Chewie. YOu're already six feet, plus the foot or so from the boots AND then the head.

Man, that is crazy tall. And it's great to have a legion costume so massively awesome that it make clones and mandos look like a bunch of pansies. Wink

The head only adds like 4 inches, and the feet add 12 inches tops. So at most I think I'm 7' 6". I was about the same height as Nihilus I remember.

Okay. So I got the speaker system working. Right now I just have a speaker I ripped out of an old surround sound system.

My problem is I'm worried it juts out too much. It's about 3 inches deep.

The two ideas I've received so far on where to place it would be near the neck so it gets hidden beneath the 'beard' hair, or on the small of the back as that isn't really seen in pictures anyway.

Any input, thoughts, or ideas?
