I wonder if you could take the embossed metal and glue or attach it to one of those snap bracelets for the packing gown. Not sure how that would work and you would have to strip down the cover off the snap bracelet first, but it might work.

And it's so cool to see someone do this costume! The hair bands are looking good! Can't wait to see your progress!

I don't think you'd want to strip the cover off of a snap bracelet, I've heard of kids getting cut on those when the cover wore off. The metal under the cover is pretty sharp. Sad

This is one of my favorite padme costumes. I'm really looking forward to seeing more progress pics.

Good beginning! It's my first costume too, Ive chosen it because it's a good one, and easy to make Smile

For the plastron Ive used simili leather but I renforced it with some aquarium tubes on the sides Smile

Ok, it's been a while since I've made much progress but I got a few things in the mail yesterday and all of a sudden I'm much closer to my goal!

Here's the overall picture so far Amadalia

Belt buckle, I already broke part of it :'( It seems to be made of pretty soft metal and I'm hoping I can super glue or maybe solder it back....

These are the gauntlets. I can't even keep them on my arms without gloves on, they slip right off! I just don't want to screw them up by painting them with the wrong thing. They're fiberglass resin and I realized when I got them...I can't just slap some spray paint on this, can I.....

Yes, they are. At first I thought they would be ok but after thinking about it for a while I am going to have to dye my own. Plain red ones are too red, orange ones are too orange. So I found some white cotton leggings and am going to try my first dye job this week (wish me luck) Razz

Dangit! Mixed the dye with too much red apparently. They're going through the dryer now but I think they're going to be too red. Mad Luckily it's only $10 for pants and $5 for more RIT dye to try again. jeez

You could try to bleach your pants and start over again.

You may want to try using "E600" to glue the belt buckle. You can find it at any craft stores like JoAnn's and Walmart. It works magic. Just make sure you allow a full day for it to dry.

I looked at putting this costume together once and pants held me back. At the time, leggings weren't in style and when I did stumble upon a pair, they were never the correct color. I think you're right that the best option may be to dye them.

I look forward to seeing more pics soon!

Painted gauntlets. I used textured spray paint to give it a texture closer to the real thing and I'm pretty pleased with it!

That is so cool! I love how it's coming out. Those gaunts look so pretty. Where did you get them?

Ok this is turning out to be the hard part (as I expected, but put it off anyway)--the vest. My grandmother thinks she can sew it and I will just have to "supervise" to make sure she stays true to the actual costume. But I need to choose which fabric to use. I got a variety of upholstery vinyl with the hope that we would be able to use the sewing machine with it and not have to hand-sew it. Razz But upholstery vinyl doesn't generally come in the "dark grayish-teal" that the vest requires. Which one of these would be my best choice, if any? If none of these work I am not sure what I will be trying next.

The first is a set all 4 vinyls taken against the black turtleneck and tan suede shirt for the costume, picture taken outside.

The same fabrics but in indoor light.

I feel like the navy is the closest all around but have seen pictures that make me think the green or black would be the closer choice. Help!
