Hello, and thanks for the invite/recruit. My name is Russ and I've been a Star Wars fan ever since the parents showed me "A New Hope" back on VHS when I was a kid. It wasn't until recently in college that I've re-kindled that fanaticism with Star-Wars Role-playing games, other video games, collecting figurines, Legos, books, and especially creating my own & collecting Star Wars Costumes. My first costume I made a Jedi robe from some simple instructions I found on the web that looked pretty realistic. After having so much fun making & wearing it on Halloween and in my RPG gaming group, I decided to go with a more detailed costume, and after buying a Star Wars Simplicity sewing pattern, I made my first Sith Lord costume complete with Darth Vader's ForceFX lightsaber. The costuming just grew from there - each year before halloween I'd collect a new character costume from Darth Vader to Obi-Wan Kenobi as a clone commander to a stormtrooper to an X-wing pilot to a Jawa -- even mixing costumes as a Jedi in a clone trooper disguise!

Last week it was Star Wars night at the ballpark where the Idaho Falls Chukars were playing and a friend of mine gave me her tickets as she could not attend. I was totally excited and suggested to my wife that we could dress up - she as a Jedi and I as her clone trooper protector. Little did we know that the 501st was there in attendance with Darth Vader, a Tie pilot, and a stormtrooper! We had fun watching the reaction of kids & parents alike as we made our way through the crowds. At one point, some kids even asked us for autographs! A member of the 501st gave us a card and made the comment that when I was ready to upgrade my costumes to something more professional movie-grade that I could contact and apply for the 501st. I also found some info on the 501st site that led me here for all my "good guy" costumes.

Well, here I am!

If pictures of my costumes are necessary, then I have a blog I began several years ago with my first Star Wars halloweens at the following site:

Thanks again for the invite!

Thanks, all for the warm welcome!

Yes, I do have pics of my past and mostly current costume endeavors. They're all at:

FYI These are my "good guy/heroic" costumes... (I have other "bad guy/villain" costumes you'll see on the link above.)

Welcome aboard-
You've got a nice start. Take a look through the boards and click on the standards. That's a good way to start. Then if you have any questions, you are welcome to post in that specific forum and as always, come right ahead and post in the RB forum for local help. We're here to help.

I will be more than likely to update my first jedi costume from 2005. I have an official robe costuming pattern I followed when I made my sith robe & costume that I will be upgrading to my jedi cloth material. I think I'd like to get my jedi costume approved first after I redo his outer robe & inner obi. It's been 6 years since I made that first robe, and it's gotten a little shabby over the years of wearing it. Plus - it will be good to do a new robe for General Kenobi as a clone trooper as well!
