the first EU Han Solo has been approved for the RL.
this was a tough call. the costume was rejected at first, then reconsidered,
and finally accepted on the strength of Blair's references.

it's basically a cross between ANH and ESB. it seems well documented:
Han wears ANH from the waist down and ESB from the waist up, during the NJO era of the EU.
(who knew?)

these are the references which Blair collected. including, (but not limited to): 2 different book covers from EU novels; in-book description (of threepio sewing bloodstripes onto "blue" pants); comic book artwork showing Han with ANH pants in the NJO era; comic art showing blue jacket with blue pants; etc..

Blair certainly did his homework for this one.

standards for this costume don't yet exist,
(and right now, all changes to the standards have been put on hold until the re-judging of old frames is complete),
but the standards would look something like this:

Required Items:

1. Navy blue or charcoal twill jacket with long sleeves, 4 front pockets, 1 pocket on the left arm and 1 large back pocket.
2. White or cream color long-sleeve cross-placket shirt with a short mandarin collar.
3. Dark blue or navy pocketless pants with accurate red Corellian bloodstripes
4. Black leather belt punctured entirely with rows of three holes and a two-prong buckle
5. Black equestrian-type knee-high boots. (leather or leather-look; no laces).
6. Accurate leather gunbelt and buckles with capped holster, correct tools and proper droid caller.
7. DL-44 blaster (A New Hope version), unless local laws prohibit or strongly discourage carrying anything that looks like a firearm

Formal Requirements: (Must have 3 to be formal)

1. Pintuck down the center front of each pant leg
2. Riding seam around the seat and down the back of each pant leg.
3. Embroidered bloodstripes. (about 1 inch wide by 1/4 inch high, with only 1/8 of an inch of space between each embroidered section)
4. No visible zipper on the boots.

Optional Items:

1. two-tone brown driving gloves.
2. scruffy-looking facial hair / beard.

Question, now that I'm thinking about it (and mentally checking off if I have the items to pull it off {which I dont, lol}). Is there any specific gun-belt configuration? ANH, ESB, ROTJ?

Heh, my wife would love me not having to shave each time I put on Han, lol!

the front buckle is definitely ANH/ROTJ.

I would think the rear buckle would be ROTJ too (?) but your guess is as good as mine

I think, that Han was using ROTJ gunbelt configuration ... (based on comics)

So if I used an ESB blaster for this costume, it wouldn't work?

Just to be a stickler for details but those references from Marvel Comics are pre NJO, pre Thrawn, etc and the references from Star's End are pre-ANH. If this is NJO era Han, none of these references qualify.

Phew, and I thought I'd have to order another blaster. Thanks.

I recognize the images on the left, in the middle.
They're from a comic that sums up Chewbacca's life as told by friends and family after his death.
So it's NJO era, I think.

Those Marvel comics images were added like proof that Han Solo was wearing blue pants and blue jacket (it was added bonus, not related to NJO era).

Blair provided many references on that page -- he only needed three references.

between the book covers, the in-book description, and the 'chewbacca' comic , he's got more than three references
