Hey Guys, my name is Andy, aka EVO3 on all the other forums i belong to. Ive been mostly into clones, and im currently the CTN Detachment Leader. After SWW in Orlando this year, i got an itch to start an X-wing costume. I was gonna go with a kit but decided to make a go of it from scratch. So after tracking down a APH-6 helmet from a local Military surplus, i worked out a deal to "Lease" it from him. Got a soft pull off of it and went to work. My idea was to make my helmet look like it had a tighter more detailed pull. Even more than the movie helmets. So here is what i have so far, and i would like any feedback that you all have to offer. I would like to eventually mold it and pull a lighter copy of it out of resin. Once the helmet is done i'll move on to completing the rest of the costume. So here are the pics.........

Dont hold back.

I'm no expert on helmet kits (construction) but have to say it looks like you've got a really nice helmet there in the making!

Have you compared your creation next to some of the current helmet kits? If you can "lease" that original helmet a little longer and get something that can be replicated... I'm sure the RLSC could always use another local helmet vendor to keep up with demand.

Hi Andy, welcome to the Rebel side. Wink
Your helmet is looking good. Thumbs up The details in the front are very sharp and crisp. The back looks a bit softer but that may just be the lighting. A resin x-wing helmet would be a nice option to have. Have you thought about how the visor would mount in it?

I wish i knew what size it was. The helmet was in pretty rough condition and i couldnt find a size in it anywhere. Quite honestly, i didnt even know where to look for it. If you know where it should be located i can go back and look. I was just happy to find one. So i used what i had at my disposal. What size should it be anyways? It looks to be about the right size.

He might be asking, because he's a big man with a big noggin and would like for it to be a larger size. Razz

You call that a soft pull? Looks pretty darn crisp, to me.

Files, sandpaper and a little bit of bondo can work miracles. Laughing

Andy! You sure do know how to make an entrance. Surprised Welcome to the Rebel Legion! I'm glad to see you here.

And don't forget, clones are dual-Legion costumes, so feel free to submit those.

Hey guys! Yeah, its been a year since i posted this and not much was done to the helmet after the first set of pics were taken. Life and other C6 projects took a front seat and the X-Wing helmet project had to be put away, but as soon as C6 was over i pulled it out again and started with getting it ready for molding and making the buck to pull visors for it. So heres what ive got so far...

Visor buck for the vac machine....

First steps of molding...

Ive been updating this project on my FB page. So if anyone is interested in seeing its progress, here is a link to my prop page on FB. http://www.facebook.com/Evo3Props?ref=hl#!/Evo3Props

With any luck i'll have my start to an X-Wing pilot costume soon!
