I have been pretty much scouring the internet for a good pair of riding boots for a Han ANH costume. Unfortunutally, it looks like DevonAire is no longer an option as they discontinued their mens riding boots. And I am not really too keen on spending a grand on a pair of custom made ones.

I noticed these when searching online:

http://www.redfordfilms.com/product/ML770007-RF/Star-Wars-Imperial-Officer-Galactic-Boots.html?meta=GBASE&metacpg=ML770007-RF&utm_source=gbase&utm_medium=CPC&utm_content=&utm_campaign=ML770007-RF

Does anyone have any knowledge of this particular pair? I know they are called imperial officer boots, but the description also says that they could be used for a Han look. It is tough to tell from the picture, but they don't look like they are tall enough for Han boots.

Then there is the other option that is really more of a last resort.

And I am very hesitant to even bring up the idea, lest I be struck down by god or something, but here it is: Star Fortress Han boots. They have the option for the full leather, custom made ones. I have never ordered from SF before, so everything I know about them is from my reading. Does anyone have the actual boots that knows firsthand about their quality? And not just what people have heard or experienced with other SF products.

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide!

the ones in the link from redford are the licensed replica boots from Museum Replicas,
the same ones they will sell with their han solo ensemble next year.
(the same ones they already sell with their luke ROTJ ensemble, this year)

as far as cut/look/design..
they are supposed to be identical to what Harrison Ford wore.. Cool
(..but with quality made in india) Confused

a cheaper option is to search various combinations of "russian/soviet/german military/officer/riding boots" on ebay.
http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=military+riding+boots+soviet
http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=riding+boots+russian
http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=german+riding+boots

p.s: before you trust in star fortress, try motor cowboy

I would also recomend you contact seller and verify size. There are more to boot purchases than just foot size, make sure the calf fits as well!

for 200$ you have options on ebay like cobalt has mentioned, I would keep looking before you drop 200$

Star Fortress has not made many things well... good for Halloween, but not usually something that will pass for RL. I cant say much about thier boots right off hand though.

I am however going to add that link for Museum replicas to the archieve.

I got a pair of boots that I wanted to use for a Han costume once I get the parts together.
But they have a zipper on the inside seam.
Would they still work?
They're almost knee height, black riding boots.
At least that's what the seller said...

side zippers are discouraged in the standards, but not ruled out. Wink

ie:
you need 3 of 4:
pin tuck, riding seam, embriodered bloodstripes, no visible zipper on boots.

--> IF you have your pin tuck, riding seam, embroidery..
.. then the side zipper is overlooked. Wink

I was unaware of that. I wonder which version they're doing and if they'll offer a belt/holster.

Kinda late chiming in. But what about caboots.com

http://www.pimpinshoes.com/product/1XCSHANS/HAN-SOLO-BOOTS.html

They are $350, but looks like they are made to order, based on your measurements, in Texas.

Yeah,

My first pair of Han boots are Caboots. very nice boot. I have them listed as a vendor for Han boots in the archives. These are great places to go with if you are in need of something special like larger calf measurements and such.

Good eye though!

This main issue with most Han boots is the height of the boot... or" shaft". I would ask seller for measurement. So you can get a better idea where the boot ends. The boot should end, just below the knee.

Germqn jack boots are typically too short... you will want a ridding boot.

gotcha..
will do...
I would imagine also that depends on how tall the prospective Han is...
so..in addition to getting a shaft measurement..
I would also tell Brian to put a tape measure to his leg..
Brian isn't real, real tall...
so..
it might be a possibility..

Very Happy

For a han around 6 foot tall you will want at least a 17 inch shaft. Some of the really good German officer boots can get as tall as 19inches. My original boots where 18 inch shafts. My new ones I am looking to get will be 18-19 as well.

Then again I am 6 foot 3.
