Hi all! I'm new to the RL forum, but have been around on the 501st. (I'm TI-7118)

Anyway, I'm going to be doing the Parade Gown, but don't even have a clue as to where to start. Where in the world do you find the fabric for the cape? Does anyone have a good pattern for it? Anyone got a good supplier for the jewelry piece on her forehead? I plan on getting a wig and having a stylist do that for me, any helpful hints to give them? Are there any good links or tutorials as to how to do the parasol thingy? I'd really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!

There are several gals here that have done a beautiful job on this costume. I'm not a Padme costumer, however if you go to the link below it has a lot of information on this costume. Reference pics, tutorials etc:

I have made this costume and the ref pics on Padawans Guide are great but not a lot of tutorial on there(esp for the parasol). We are discussing this on Angels of Iego here: http://angelsofiego.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3&sid=4257b7a6287892598da9a5fafda5839e

You are welcome to sign-up and discuss to your heart's content about the Parade Gown. It does take a ton of time and patience but the result is worth it. Good luck and looking forward to seeing you on AOI. Queen

My favourite TPM dress Cool Padawan's Guide and Angels of Iego are definitely the places you want to check first!

My Escape from Naboo Gown:

I need to finish the attachment points on the back so I did not show those b/c they look wrong and my hubby helped me and did not get how to fix it correctly(but he did try). I also need to redo my feathers as I did not make the headdress or skirt but the feathers just look atrocious to me.

Becca, I'll say again how fabulous this is! You did a fantastic job with that black "pointy" fabric. Dedication to detail really pays off. Smile Thumbs up

I'd like to hear any advice or experience on the subject of hiding one's real hair for Padme's Ep I Senate gown. I've just made my initial fabric purchase and I know it's going to be quite a while before I get anywhere near making hair-horns, but what the hey.

My own hair is almost knee-length and entirely the wrong color. Hard to stuff under something, but I'm willing to try--also willing to temp dye, if that's the best option. Any suggestions?

Not many people have made the Ep1 senate gown (my absolute favorite prequel costume) but I've heard someone made their headdress so that there was a sort of "cup" hidden inside the top and she stuffed her real hair into the cup as she put on the headdress. If you hair is that long, I'm not sure if you could hide it...it might be worth a try experimenting with different sized bowls/cups/etc. to see if you can accomplish it. Otherwise, I would suggest maybe you could hide your hair in the portion that goes down the back? http://www.padawansguide.com/amidala/senate/dag3.jpg (copy & paste)

Does anyone know the name of the fabric in the skirt of the Return to Naboo gown?

I stumbled upon this fabric today and ordered it. It was just a remnant left so I felt that I couldn't just order a swatch first, if it wont work for the travel gown it's still a nice fabric for some every day wear. It looks a bit dark, but it's supposed to be marine, and this is the closest I've come so far when it comes to the texture of the fabric.

That's pretty fabric. It actually makes me think of the Navy Blue Linen ROTS dress.
