i had also seen these boots being offered online when i was making my arena padme costume, and yes, unfortunately, they make them really short for some reason, and it is a pity because the soles are correct LOL.

Thanks for all your advice! I'm finding it hard to get the boots and stuff so I'm thinking of trying something a little different; possibly a little more simple. I'm not sure yet but I'll get there! (:

Could you use those and attach a piece of vinyl or leather that matches the boots to the top of the shin guards? Kinda like a spat?

However, now that I think about it, the spat would have to go all the way up the leg, so it might be worth it just buy taller boots.

I've had my suspicions about the boot being only ankle high for a while. Mainly because the inside ankle zip does not show at the top of the boot. It's because there is a full wrap around the boot as well as the half shin guard.

When matching shoe to the originals it is more important to find the right toe and sole combination than anything above the ankles. These are parts made on specific machines very few people have access too. Upper parts are mostly able to be matched and made more accurate relatively easily.

Best examples of there there is a wrapping under the guards that obscure all under boots shape:

I see what you're talking about, but I still think they're tall boots with something wrapped over it to hide [most of] the zipper much like they do with the Jedi boots (example: Anakin's boots). I think the thing you're thinking is a "spat" is all part of the shin guard that wraps completely around her calves and shins.

Yes exactly Smile Wink It's not part of the boot at all and you cannot see any evidence of a boot beyond that it covers the ankles.

Excellent photo showing the upper is totally separate though Wink They seem to be put on the wrong legs..... the padded edge should be on the inside and you can clearly see the overlap on the leg on our right.

Okay and this photo seems to show the wraps are separate to the shins, note the padded edge is not centred while on the above one of them is. and here where they both are:

And another configuration:

For film and theatre and all that the more you can remove that is not seen the better- remember Anakin's glove and sleeve that is cut down? Wink All a full boot will do is create more bulk- by eliminating it you can control the final shape much better.

Think about TK boots. Exactly the same situation.

The boots mentioned are great aside from the shine and exposed zip- good seam matching, same toe shape and sole. The top portion will sit inside the shin guards and the top edge is hidden.
