First of all:
Thank you guys for your motivating words! After all of this "positive energy" I decided to make the vents. Didn´t get it for 100%, but as I plan to paint the earphones in black it will work...
Sorry for the pics poor quality, but with the mobile phone under bad light conditions they didn´t get better.

First painting done, I´m really satisfied with the colour. Some more layers will follow, paint job will be done by myself mostly with the brush.

Did I already mention the "one word"?
COSTUM painting of course!

Additional painting done. This is ment to be the "technical painting". All was done freehand with a brush. I don´t care some small mistakes due to the fact that the whole helmet isn´t "perfect". Fortunately the black colour conceals the not perfect vents. My aim is to create a good looking bucket from a distance of about half a meter, and not to do a perfect paint job.
I still try to find the design of the "personal" painting, but I´m pretty sure it will be a green one...
Last thing to do is the wiring, the mic and the replacement of the rivets (made of wood glue drops for the first attempt).

I´m looking forward to make some complete costume pics when the helmet is finished....

Looks awesome.
But what I never got with A- and B-wing helmets... how do they stay on your head? Neutral

HaHa, thats the trick...
You HAVE to wear the AN-H-15 flightcap (like my foamhead does). Otherwise the bucket would dangle on your head like a wild bantha...
I think its quite the same with the B-Wing helmet.

And what's so special about the cap?

Nothing special at all. The AN-H-15 (Army Navy Helmet/Hat?) is a WW2 flightcap (and for 65 years in a good shape) with rubber covers over the earphones. My helmet sits quite strong on those phonecovers, so when I don´t wear the cap there´s too much space between head and helmet....dangle dangle...

So the helmet sits on the caps ear covers.
Gotcha.

Well, not necessarily. I'd imagine it'd be true for the A-Wing helmets as well, but for the B-Wing the cap seems to have nothing to do with it staying on. In the video game "Rebel Assault II" there are actually two pilots wearing a B-Wing helmet but don't have a cap on. So I guess the helmet is just tight enough to stay on, or perhaps there's some padding or something inside.
This is one thing that I'm confused about as well... I guess it's just whatever works.

Anyhow, the helmet looks very good so far, Okami Dai. Nice job. Smile
Where did you get your cap, anyway? Ebay? The thing looks like new.
