Apologies if this thread is old Hat. I looked through the archives but couldn't find anything definitive.

Does ANYONE have a pattern for Han's ESB shirt? I know the suggestion is to modify existing patterns, and I'll give it the college try if I have to, but It'd be a lot easier to work from a pre-existing blueprint.

Does anyone know where I can get one?

I haven't been able to find a pattern for this shirt specifically. Basically the information you found about modifying a shirt pattern is the only way I know of.
Or...you can do like me and try making one and then hate it, because you've never drafted a pattern before and thusly messed it up. Hehe.
I mean, it works to some extent, but it totally needs to be remade. I've looked through a number of patterns to try and find a shirt pattern to modify. I think I'm going to take the collar from the chef's outfit pattern I have and add it to a shirt, then add the panels for the front flaps.
From looking at the pictures, it's the best plan I can come up with to get something that comes close.
Good luck!

Somehow I missed this one.

Ok its a McCalls pattern from the early 80's Pattern number 7760... and rare. You can search ebay from time to time and catch it for dirt cheap.

I have also loaded this up on the archive... thanks for pointing it out that I missed it... Embarassed

Ebay link... if your lucky!

We made my ESB costume before CIII.... whenever that was. I do know I had it completed long before decided to join the RL.

Sorry for not posting this info earlier... makes me wonder what else I forgot in the archieves... sigh.

I have another question.

Is it possible do modify a standard mens shirt by sewing two rectangles on its front? It should look like this on Corellian Exports (click). Wearing the blue jacket, there shouldn't be a difference. But what if I would also do a version of carbon-freeze-chamber Han?

For the record: the original shirt (click).

You would also have to sew on a collar...but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Especially if you're only going to be wearing it with the jacket.

Yeah, I actually found a shirt on eBay with collar - that is why I am asking Smile

EDIT: Oh wait.. those rectangles ARE attached on the original, aren't they?

There is more to that shirt then even the patterns are going to bring out.

When I get a chance (working a ton of hours for work right now) I will put together a breakdown of the shirt and show you why its not just rectangles over a collared shirt.

Not saying it would not pass, just saying it would not be 100% correct.

It depends on what you're asking, if you're asking if it would work, yes.
If you're asking if it's going to be accurate, no but close enough to troop in.
If you want it to be accurate, you'll want to create it from scratch and not modify a shirt. There are patterns out there that work for it, like the one listed earlier in this thread.
I tried creating one from scratch and had I ever done something like that before, It probably would have turned out great. But since it was my first attempt...well, let's just say I don't like wearing the shirt unless I'm wearing the jacket, hehe. But I will eventually redo it and use the pattern listed in this thread.

Thanks Bob and Brian, I see your point.

I ordered that shirt on eBay and I will try my best in modyfing it. Doing the whole thing from scratch seems a bit difficult for me, yet.
But I'm looking forward to your breakdown, Bob. Maybe - some day - I will sew it on my own Smile

We bought the last one off the 'Bay. The wife said it doesnt matter if its already cut, as long as she has the pattern she can adjust it to whichever size is needed.
That being said, once we have the pattern and she's gotten a chance to play with it and mod it bigger/smaller, she'd probably be willing to to make copies of the pattern available in the sizes needed.
