I'm starting to do the preliminary research for ESB Luke Hoth/Bespin. I was wondering what some people have used in the past for his boots. The costuming standards say brown boots with covers and straps. I always thought they were sort of grey looking with a 3/4 wrap gator with straps.
Anyways, does any one have any ideas as to what should be used?
Thanks
Greg

get some grayish-brown suede and make your "gators" and straps. then glue the gators onto matching suede shoes.

I made a pair not long ago, but the suede I used was more of a reddish brown. I need to try again.

Hi Greg,

I know you posted this in July, but I'll add my two Republic Credits for what it's worth.

After waiting for a couple of months, my Motorcowboy Luke Skywalker Dagobah/Bespin boots arrived in September. Pricey? Yes. But IMHO, worth the $$ and the wait amigo.

Custom made and contrary to some others on this forum, I had no problems at all. Had friendly, professional communications from ordering to delivery. I guess I was just lucky.

Now I just need to weather these bad boys...yikes!

Aloha,

Boomer56

Those are definitely way better looking than the boots they had on their site...

I made my boots by buying a pair of old man suede bedroom slippers (with no laces or anything on the tops) and then bought a tan suede hide and cut and glued the pieces and straps onto the slippers with contact cement. I will post a pic or two when I get home.

Film lighting. Commonly overlooked. It can make anything look like any other color.

There's also the fact that 16 copies of the costume were made for the film, with some variations (if I remember right the collar height/shape varies a bit) so it may very well be possible there are versions that are more "grey" than others.
