I just started making male lekku out of cloth fabric. I've had two Shado Vao commissions, here's link to pics on photobucket of the first set (at the bottom). First time I ever made male lekku. A headpiece is necessary the way I make them now, I may look into a way to make them wearable without a headpiece if properly motivated. Razz

Ha! I didn't realize it was you until you replied! Sent you an email btw, they're done. Smile

For my Darth Talon I used foam make-up sponges and Ben Nye Magicolor Liquid Paint and Ben Nye Final Seal from sillyfarm.com. It's rather easy to do and use, especially if you're only doing your face.

Here is RL thread on bodypaint with many other tips from other members Smile

Completed a Bib recently, it wasn't the easiest costume to do.

The appliance is just standard latex, it won't last too many more applications but it can then be converted into a Shado Vao piece!

Dougie, I'm impressed. Most impressed. At first, I thought I saw a promo image of Bib Fortuna. You did a great thing!

Have you yet submitted your costume for membership?

I'm working on a Twi-lek in Tattooine peasant clothes to go with my Watto puppet. I'm using thin upholstery foam for skin and a plastic mesh to shape it. I plan to use a pair of welding goggles on the forehead to mask where the headpiece meets my skin.

I'll post pics as it comes along.

The Illusive Jedi Man ... I'm playing way to much ME2 right now. -.-

The Lekku are looking good, also the make-up. I'm just not sure about the eyebrows. Paint them or leave them ... I don't know. Neutral

You could look for latex prosthetics, I've seen eyebrow covers on some sites

Take a look at the latex eyebrows over at northfur. They are relatively inexpensive, enough and can last you a long time, if they are taken care of properly.

Hey!!! looking good!!!
For the eyebrows, try to find (in theater shops or costume shops or something similar) modeling nose clay (or wax), I found some, it is called "nose putty" and the vendor told me that it works for covering eyebrows and stuff or making modifications to the face. I bought it, since I'm working on my Twi'lek.

Btw... Summer, like your work and I used your tutorials for constructing my lekkus (I'm not "constructing" them directly, have a friend helping me), out of fabric. The final product is being done in Microfabric, it feels awesome and has a nice look. If nothing drastic happens, will have them for CV.
When everything is done, will upload the pics.
I will be like a twi'lek tourist, the rest of my outfit is not done. Lol!

Question! ???
If submitting.... (hope to do it before the end of the year....) the whole thing as a Jedi, would it be considered formal or I will have to do a face character instead? Btw, this will be my first costume and going for a custom design (influenced by some robes), but follows the Generic Old Republic standards.

Newbie feeling (it is awful).... Confused

Thanks for the time, Jedi

May this begin the twi'lek "male" revolution...!!!

well the whole eyebrow thing...really wasnt much of a problem after all..
Twi'lek have eyebrows..so I just didnt make em darker this time..
I covered them in the white...then just touched them alittle bit with a darker color,
just enough so they are there but not noticable...

added the blue line, just to change it up a bit..

as for formal or informal...

well I was approved for formal as a jedi, but informal for a pilot..
different judges..different opinons....
I did not question the pilot..I was ok with informal..
it was just a cosutme for fun...and a way to add one more to my cosutme list.. Laughing

if you have a generic Jedi costume..I would sumit a Human Jedi first..then add the twi'lek..
thats just my opinon...

here are some more UPDATED pics of my twi'lek
