Thank you. Very Happy
I just hope we won't be swarmed by people wanting to have a picture taken with us at CV... oh wait... that's one of the reason we are going, never mind. Move along, move along! Razz

That is great to hear...

I think initially you guys thought that you might not bring those costumes due to the heat...
boy...

I hear ya..

Hoth costumes are hot!

I finally removed the lining from my jacket to cut down on the heat
also..

I seldom wear the scarf...that just adds another whole layer of heat to the costume...it is amazing what just that little piece of fabric adds in terms of heat factor...I sometimes just hang the scarf from the backpack..

I also wear no shirt under the jacket....
just the jacket...
unless I am doing an outside event in winter...

try to stay cool...
and have a great time at CV...I will be there in spirit anyway..

nice!

I espcially like the way you disguised the elect box or whatever it is on that flamethrower arm...or satellite arm...or whatever the heck that thing is supposed to be...

Very Happy

I still have to dig through all this before I start on mine this December... I just saw these shoes and I like to grab suitable shoes right away since they're so hard to find. Would suedish moccassin-type shoes work for the base of building the boot?

well....that is not a simple yes/no answer...

would they work for the way I constructed my boots/gaiters?
no...

but...
not to say you couldn't design you own method and style of boots/gaiters

I took some screen captures from ESB last night. Newest pics are at the end of the album.

Here are some of Hoth Troopers, including some interesting ones:

Officer on the right:

One thing caught me in this sequence:

That's a dark set of lenses there:

Multiple colors of scarves:

Green lens and one pattern of the shoulder patch:

Definitely two-tone gloves. Plus the macrobinoculars:

Two different types of heavy trench guns:

Not a tripod gun, but a different one:

How crappy must life be to be taking on an AT-AT with a DH-17?

Note the much lighter green-yellow and a much darker green lens:

Tripod gun like in the recent action figure:

The chest comm pad looks different from others I have seen. Much taller than the others. But these troopers all have the same rank badge on the right shoulder:

See that chest badge:

Gloves aren't so two-tone here:

Different rank badge here:

No two-tone on the gloves, and two very different shade goggles:

The rank badges match what are in the Star Wars technical commentaries.

I hope these help! And yes, I was bored last night. Wink

lol....
well...if you were bored...you put your time to good use...

those are some great captures...

I did buy the book "The Making of The Empire Strikes Back" (thanks to a 33% off coupon from Borders)
and...
where I have not read it,
I did thumb through the whole book to look at photos...

sadly...
there really wasn't a lot of photos with regard to Hoth Troopers that I had hoped I would see..

Crying or Very sad

I will have to take the time to actually READ everything...but god knows when that will be...

I have 3 Star Wars events and 1 restoration workday between tonight and Sunday afternoon...

Shocked

Thanks! I wanted to round out the screen capture department --and get a bunch that I hadn't seen before. There are a few more I'll try to get of the Hoth troopers, techs and whatnot. Then ones of Leia throughout, to help my seamstress get her Leia done.

I'm looking forward to the ESB book. I'm reading the Making of SW (ANH) now. It's fascinating, but not too much help on the costume front.

This is really bad of me, but I had a hard time getting through the 42 pages of this thread. So I'm pulling a newb and just straight out asking.
From what I've seen, Lukes Hoth (Tauntaun) outfit, is pretty much the same as the Hoth Hanger Trooper Costume. In addition to his rank badge (right chest) beige shoulders, his specific belt, blaster and saber, am I missing anything else?
Would following the costume standard here:
http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8863
be correct?
And I'm probably just adding fuel to a long dead fire. But Lukes goggle lenses really do look green.[/url]
