Hello all, I'm new to the site, and if this post needs to be moved, then please do so.

I am currently working on re-making my battle outfit from Episode I to wear to Celebration V and was asking for any advice people might have on doing the hairstyle Padme and her handmaidens have in the outfit. The first time I made the costume was way back when for Celebration II and I didn't have the hair right for it. Here I am eight years later, redoing the costume and I want the hair to be right. I have very long hair, but it's in MANY layers. I'm willing to either use my real hair (and dye it her color since currently it's a bright auburn) or style a wig. If I use my real hair, I'm sure there will need to be some hair extensions involved.

But I thought I would ask the people here since so many of you are more avid Star Wars costumers than myself (I'm more of an anime/manga cosplayer but I take it very seriously). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used a hairpiece and styled it(since that is how they did it for the movie). I put my real hair in a bun or braid and clip it up and then attach the hairpiece.

Thanks. I had thought about doing that. I just have to practice making a hairpiece. I've done wigs before, but not clip in pieces, so I will have to get to work on that soon.

Becca, did your hairpiece come with a clip already attached, or did you attach it? What kind of clip was it?

I used metal combs that you can find in the bridal section of craft stores like Michaels. I hang it on my hair and then attach it with a few bobby pins but it is fairly secure with the nature of the piece and gravity.

Becca, you wouldn't happen to have any pictures of your hairpiece would you? I really would like to try the method you explained, but my brain isn't totally wrapping around the concept yet. I feel kind of slow not being able to figure this out when I've figured out far more complex things...

Basically, I had one long hair extension and added some hair rats to the top and bottom for the shape and then wrap the hair around the middle and glued it. I added the combs onto that. I am not 100% happy with it but it is passable I suppose.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate all your help on this. I will have to buy extensions soon and give it a try.
