Right but those costumes, by your own admission, were NOT formally approved by the RL for a high profile event. This is a serious offense. We were invited to this too, it was not just a 501st invite and LFL should have never seen those costumes before they were approved by the RL. When you wear a Rebel costume, you represent the RL and since you are already members, you should have known better. The CO should have collected pics of those who wanted to go on the RL side and sent them to our SWIC contact(posted in Base Command) in advance. There are failures on both sides with this event it seems.

My apologies for that forsure. I have owned the costume for so long I just forgot to submit it for formal approval, and thought it was approved until I check a little eariler today. I am not sure what needs to be done now... But if I need to be dismissed from the Rebel Legion. So be it. I feel that liann and I were not given all the information and should be given the benefit of the doubt. 501 should not be in trouble either (they did not know our costume approval statuses) since they were only trying to help out their fellow rl friends... We do not have the largest group here and were just trying to get more members out to the event.

I can appreciate the mistake and like I said, there are some issues in Base Command that need to be addressed as well. Sorry that this base did not do this event the way all the other ones have. Please submit your costumes when you can so we can get them added to your profile. No need to remove you or pursue anything further other than to learn from this experience. You are right, you did not know how this was supposed to be handled either. I hope you do recruit more members in your area Amadalia

i must apologize, i too have had my costume so long that i'd forgotten that i had not sent it in for approval yet, if i'd realized i would have just worn one of my approved outfits, i wasn't intentionally disregarding the rebel legion rules.

regarding the submitting of the costumes i did send all of my photos myself, as at the time no one else seemed to be attending, to the organizer and as i never heard back from them, the 501st member who was in contact with the organizer was kind enought to speak with her about my involvement

Again, thank you Liann for your apology. I realize it wasn't intentional and we can just say that the rules for this were not posted correctly(the RL standards matter always and just for reference, you can refer to Article VIII of the Charter). I did not mean to sound harsh but we have had issues like this with high profile events crop up all over the RL so just know that it is not just your base that is having issues. Liann, I KNOW you have a few more costume than are listed in your profile as well Wink It would be helpful if you submit those at your earliest convenience so we can get them added on there.

The way that I read that is that even if a costume is RL approved, if LFL relations doesn't like it, you can't wear it.

I think the main thing here is that people need to be checking the boards regularly and if there is anything that is unclear, to ask someone in Command. If the CO doesn’t know that someone is having trouble, they can't help.

he said, she said, 3P0 said...it was a good time. I went as 501st b/c I feel like a member of Slayer when I'm in Quinlan. I was really happy to see Jason, Sheena, and other RL members there and in full costume. To bad for the miscommunication, I really enjoy events when both the RL and 501st have a presence.

I agree Smile

It`s too bad the thread had to go this way, when all Jay was trying to do was say how great the concert was and congratulate on a good event. It dosen`t matter if it was official, unofficial, who volunteered or who paid to go. I think that people need to put childish differences aside and just enjoy what we do and remember why we do it.

On the other hand, this is the most action these boards have seen in a long time Razz

Thank you all for your support and concern on these things. I've spoken with Legion Command about this matter and they consider it closed and all parties educated.

With that in mind however going forward there will be a few changes to certain things here within the base. I have already contacted our XO and BRO and once I hear back from them I will be making a Base address. My hope is that once these items are developed or put in place we as a base and as an active member in RL as well as a sister group to the 501 will not only be able to provide more members to events but have a little more active participation in our forums as well as more members submitting more costumes. But much of this depends on the members of the base.

Thank you.
