Oddly enough, I have no such problems with any of my old MR FX sabers sing rechargables. Mike can confirm that, because at the Kids Fair we did last month, I actually didn't need to switch out my batteries at all, and I use Energizer rechargeables.

I have the Hasbro Obi-Wan Ep III & I and have tried radio shack rechargeable batteries and had poor results. They didn't last long and the lights weren't as bright when compared to regular batteries.
I'm kind of tempted to get energizer rechargeables to see if there's a difference...

Is there a release date or suggested retail up yet for this? This is the last part I need for my Anakin ROTS, I was just about to get a regular FX from Think Geek, glad I spotted this thread.

I've only heard guesses as to when they'll be released. Also, I was going to suggest buying your Hasbro FX from redfordfilms.com because they're cheaper than other sites and have free shipping on items over $50 but I didn't see the Anakin one listed. Oh, and I think if you sign up to their site you get a 5% discount, which I know isn't much, but it's a free discount so...there's that.

That's because NiMH rechargeable batteries only produce on average, 1.2 volts. Three of them will average 3.6 volts, far short of the 4.5 the saber is designed to run on. The most you'll get out of NiMH rechargeables is about 4.2 volts when they are fully charged, and then it drops off pretty fast from there. Those sabers also require AAA's and the rechargeable ones have a low rating for current capacity, so they will die very quickly. Your best bet in stock FX sabers is to simply use Energizer e2' Lithiums, or Duracell Power Pix, and not rechargeable types.

Thanks for the tip on redfordfilms.com, they have some great stuff. I am still considering the new Anakin Stunt version replica for the belt, then maybe a used force fx on ebay. If this new force fx comes out by July or so, it may be worth waiting for.

Just found this site with a pre-order for one...

http://www.galaxyshop.nl/a-10459498/-/anakin-fx-lghtsaber-with-removable-blade

the last line translates to...

Expect in stock: 15 November 2010

May be sooner in the US, at the Hasbro presentation I think they mentioned it should be out around ComicCon...
