You sentients are an odd bunch.

I have been given a new task by the Remaker...
to guard this vegetation that has been installed next to me and to hold glow sticks while doing so.

The odd thing is that this vegetation is made of duraplast and is not real...
what is she thinking?

By the way Savior....
I am ready to be stabilized....
Are you busy next weekend?

I am so excited..
I got my first holiday greeting via the Holonet today..

Rachel's Astromech sent me holiday greetings in the form of his photo...

Looks like he has been given special duties for the holidays as well...
but he does not have to guard duraplast vegetation..

Merry Christmas my fellow droid..

Schph's R2...this is Rachel's R2...

The duraplast vegetation I have to guard is a few feet away from me, just out of the picture. I find it an oddly pleasing job though, the decorations on the duraplast vegetation are so cheerful, the blinking lights remind me of a fellow R2 unit, and the presence of the whole thing seems to make my Maker happy for some reason, so that makes me pleased.

Greetings Rachel's R2...you are correct.....I guess the duraplast vegetation is rather nice....brings a little mechanical joy and light to otherwise diminishing light that I can see outside.

Glad you found my blog...
I have been nosing around your blog as well...

We certainly were not manufactured on the same shift at the Droid Factory...that is for sure.

I was looking over the design of your shoulders and how they attach to your frame...

impressive...
most impressive...

The Maker did not design and build me with some of your features and I rather doubt that the ReMaker can duplicate your construction...

Well...
I am sure that the Savior and the ReMaker will come up with something to make me stable for missions....
at least I look pretty good standing still...

Very Happy

I hope your Savior and the Remaker can figure something out for you. My Maker is working on setting up a couple costume commissions in trade for RC stuff for me so I will finally be able to move around! She also keeps chattering excitedly about something called CV and how she wished you and your Remaker could go. Seems like I am to go with and it will be a very long car ride. I wonder how it will be with 3 younglings in the car...

I am so envious Rachel's R2...
you will be given the gift of motivation..

The Remaker says that I will never get motivators...
as she states I will become too heavy for her to carry me...
As a lone sentient in her quarters - she has to be able to lift and load me herself and when you get motors and drives installed...
aparently we Astromechs gain a LOT of weight..

The Remaker does have in her stash of goodies a motor and drive to move my dome though...so I can really look around...
but the Remaker states that will be the last project to tackle.

The Remaker is worthless when it comes to electronics...
I hear she posted to the Astromech boards looking for a new front logic display for me..
my current one works...but not really well...and it is fiber optics...

CV - yes...I have heard of that also..
sadly...
the Remaker says that she will not be going..
seems that credits are hard to come by..
of course....
she might have more credits is she stopped making all of those costumes...
but I hear that the costumes are a drop in the bucket compared to the quarters that she lives in....aparently there were major malfunctions last year in those quarters and finances were pretty well wiped out...

Merry Christmas R2,

I'll be going on Christmas Day patrol with another trooper, and we hope to find your counterpart in this secluded part in the Outer Rim Territories called The Jonker Walk.

Boy...I have had lots of good news the last two days...

The Remaker is thinking about upgrading my front logic displays to something inexpensive and for those who are not the heaviest hyrospanner in the toolbox when it comes to electronics...

One of the Master Builders came up with this display:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwjljfIn_kk&feature=player_embedded

and it involves no wiring, soldering, or electronic know how...
and it uses one of these:

http://www.bestofferbuy.com/4gb-mp4mp3-player-with-3-inch-lcd-pocketsized-portable-media-p-992.html

AWESOME!! Not only does that little device have video...it has audio too....

and...

The Savior is coming over Saturday morning to stabilize my legs...

pompom

I will finally be able to go out on missions again very soon...

The Remaker says that yes....
the R2 Sounds should work in the display unit...

however...
since the unit is meant to power the display and will be located in my dome...
it would be difficult to shut off my voice if needed...
you would have to remove the dome...
and...
the Remaker does not know if the sounds can be looped in the player...

As a matter of fact,
the Re-maker took out her MP3 player with my voice to check to see if it was operational...
and she can't get it to work....
of course ...
she has always hated that MP3 player anyway...
the buttons are so tiny...
and she can't even read the instruction booklet without a magfiying glass....

I am beginning to think she is legally blind...

ha ha ha...
very funny...

can I have my body back now?

Savior?

Remaker?

Come on...
I am sorry that I bit you several times Savior...

and...
sorry to be such a pain Remaker....
but you know that it is an Astromech's job to be headstrong and difficult.

Ok R2....The Remaker is taking over your blog for a little bit...
and stop jabbing me with that utility arm...

Well....Crix and I got one step closer to solving R2's leg issues....
but one last bit of business will have to be done on Monday...
I will be bringing the legs to work to have one of the mechanics weld the pipes at the shoulder...
seems R2 is intent on kicking out the one leg anyway....even after all of Crix's hard work....
We found out that one of the pipe connections is loosening up and unscrewing - welding is the most logical approach so that both legs stay positioned correctly...after that....I think R2 will be good to go...and we will have to see how he handles it on his first mission...

A few more photos from yesterday...

ok R2....you can have your blog back...
Sorry buddy....but you will have to wait till Monday to get your legs back...

Razz

Wow....
I got to go outside today...
ok...
just my legs went outside...
but after nearly a year...
it felt good to have ANY part of me leave the Remaker's quarters...

I wanted to write "wash me" on the Remaker's transport....
but alas my utility arms were back at the quarters..

Well Savior...
do you think this is enough of a spot weld?

one leg:

the other:

The Remaker wheeled my legs around the Body Shop
and when my legs got home, the Remaker had me do a few rounds through the living room.
I am much more stable...
but I think the Remaker feels that due to my whole new stance, greater care will have to be exercised in my movement around.

Looks like I am not ready to disco dance at the "Outlander" yet...

I glad to see your "hip surgery" went well. It looks good...

I would suggest the remaker paint the welds..it will rust if she dosent..

has she tryed puting your legs back on? do the welds push your legs out more than before?

If so, not a big deal we can redrill...
